Shout out to Shakira at the front desk, she was super friendly and helpful. The place was good value for my stay ($150/night), but I wouldn't pay any more than that (no private bathrooms, single mattress, etc).
As a solo female traveler, this was a great place to stay. I felt very safe here and the staff were so kind. The room was perfect! Clean and enough room for just myself! Room had AC which was helpful, and the showers were very clean and kept up. I look forward to staying again!
Hotel is a great bang for your buck. Staff was kind throughout and held my bags before the morning of my checking until the room was ready. Rooms are very small and do not contain a private bathroom, but the hotel makes that clear up front and did a good job keeping the shared bathrooms clean and well stocked. Hotel is in a good location (only a minute walk to the waterfront and 5-10 minute walk to the subway). Would recommend for anyone planning on exploring the city and spending most of their time outside the hotel.
The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was, as advertised, very small but felt roomier thanks to a huge mirror that doubled the light coming in the window and the sense of space. There's a compartment under the bed for luggage as well as a couple of drawers, one with a safe. The bed was very comfortable, despite being quite narrow. The cleaning staff do an amazing job, the shared bathroom down the hall was immaculate, as were the halls and the room itself. Easily accessible via subway. Lots to see and do in the area.
Only stayed one night but was surprised in how well maintained it is and in the quality service from the staff. Was more akin to a high end hotel than a hostel. I had the basic single room and it's small. If you are 6ft or over I don't think you are fitting in the bed! It was comfortable though. Shared bathrooms have always put me off but it was cleaned regularly and the shower was really good. If you are planning on a solo trip to New York you can do a lot worse than staying here.
Apparently this was once used as housing for sailors, and was used to house survivors from the Titanic! Which might explain the extremely tight quarters-o8r little room measured 6ft by 5ft!! Very tight quarters, bundled, bathroom and showers down the hall. Bit of a challenge for us as older adults, but the location was great for exploring and only a 10 minute walk fromCity Winery, where we saw 2 excellent Justin Hayward shows! Be prepared to walk or take taxi to get to food. So many choices! Everything we ate was great. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were small but comfortable for me. For a one night stay in NYC this is a great place! Located in a wonderful neighborhood where there are plenty of restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. Very quiet area, well.
I will use this hostels again
Very clean and affordable, nice staff in a great location. The rooms are tiny and the corridors narrow, plus sharing bathrooms isn’t for everyone. But if you want to stay in one of Manhattan’s best neighborhoods for cheap, and just need a twin bed to sleep on, it’s an unusual but terrific option.
The Hotel was clean. Staff was very accommodating.
The Hotel did what was intended. No frills. I got the sleep/ rest I needed in a safe environment. Remember, U use a communal bathroom and the rooms are small.
Right across from the Hudson River Walk.
Spotless tiny room. It is tiny at 50 sq ft. but has marble shelves above the covered heat source which makes for nice warm towels, and thoughtful lighting, a mounted retro fan, and a/c.

The staff are kind and room is very clean but the corridor smells too bad.
I’d say the only thing I’d appreciate would be to keep the bathroom in better conditions, but that really relies on the guests, not on the staff. The only thing the staff could do is clean them more often, but while I was staying there I saw them cleaning both in the morning and at night. I guess this is just a message to other guests to remember that those are shared spaces and to leave the showers/sinks/ toilets as you would like to find them. The people at reception were all kind and helpful. I’d say that if you’re staying there from 2-5 days that’s okay, but if you plan to stay longer maybe search for a place with more room to spread around. The location is great, like 5 min walk to nearest bus station. 10 min walk to subway. Cute places nearby for breakfast lunch and dinner. Overall solid stay.
This is a good, inexpensive option in Manhattan, 2 blocks from the Whitney and the High Line. To be clear, the room is tiny, definitely just for sleeping. And there is one shared bathroom per floor. But it’s clean and has everything you need. The small lobby has nice seating and some wonderful art books.
The Billionaires upstairs in the private club could spend a few bucks to buy new mattresses. In all fairness, I didn't complain or ask for a new room/bed or mattresses topper... I wouldn't be surprised if they would have been accommodating. That said, the Billionaires that owns the building could definitely afford to get new mattresses. The springs were digging into my ribcage. Regardless, i slept well and the hotel is in the middle of one of the most exclusive and happening areas of Manhattan with trains and all kinds of things to do in walking distance. I think it's the same staff as the fancy private club so you do get 5 star top of the line service. I'll leave it at that. I could say more. 4.5 starts only because of the mattress.
There aren’t any amenities in this facility. Mattresses can be okay or horrible depending on room assignment. No coffee or tea or snacks of any kind Check out is 10am. Additionally, the heat, TV, A/C may or may not be functional. The staff are friendly and try to be as accommodating as they can be. The owner of the Jane Eurohostel clearly has no comcern for the comfort of the hostel guests. Seems like he is just waiting to be able to turn the Jane into a total private club.
I traveled from Boston; it was my first time at this hotel, and I loved everything. It was very quiet and clean, and the staff was super friendly. The room was not only spotless but also extremely comfortable. Plus, the hotel is in a walkable area with various places to eat and shops nearby.
I recommend it.❤️
Probably the strangest place I've stayed in! Be very aware, this is a hostel. Very small rooms, shared bathroom and a members club next door who seem to store items in the hostel and the staff also share the bathroom! Didn't hear any noise from here though.
The room had Aircon which was great. Great location for Greenwich Village. Not so good for midtown although there is a subway station nearby.
Good value, good location (for me) and helpful staff.
This place won't be for everyone but it suited me.
A fabulous place to stay! Great for a couple or solo traveler.. Very Clean, Friendly well informed staff! I took advantage of the laundry facility. Tap your card and use. Very quiet location.... Your in The West Village, very near Chelsea ,many restaurants and shopping... Thanks for a great stay!
