"This is a typical HIE, which means we go in with the expectations that we’ll have a near-perfect nights sleep in a comfortable and clean environment with a decent breakfast the next morning. As usual with HIE, our expectations were met. The only ding is paying for parking on top of the normal stay fees, but that’s the Californian way regardless of where you stay and at what hotel—not HIE’s fault, but it would be nice to see one, final price versus learning that upon arrival."

"Staying at Doryman’s Oceanfront Inn was unlike any hotel experience I’ve had before. The property has this incredible old-world Victorian charm that immediately makes you feel transported to another era, yet it still feels cozy and luxurious at the same time. Every room feels unique, full of character, and thoughtfully designed — definitely not your typical cookie-cutter beachfront hotel. The location is unbeatable, directly across from the Newport Pier and steps from the beach, but what really makes this place special is the atmosphere. Between the antique-inspired décor, oceanfront views, rooftop spaces, and the sound of the waves at night, the entire stay felt romantic and memorable. It’s the kind of place that feels hidden and personal rather than commercial. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Small details like the breakfast, fireplaces, and soaking tubs made the experience feel even more special. If you appreciate unique boutique hotels with personality and charm, this property is an absolute gem in Newport Beach."

"The check in time is at 4 which is too late...called in to try to get an earlier check in...even an hour and the guy said "There are several people waiting in the lobby, you can come in and sit and wait". I told this to the checkin person when we did check in and he comped out self parking...which is $40 per day...and they have a LOT of parking....they have it gated off so you HAVE to pay. The grounds looked nice but stunk like barf/baby crap as they'd just put in new mulch....really you used mulch that stinks that bad at a hotel resort? One of the maintenance guys said that was what the smell was from. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable...they have louvered bathroom doors so if you're loud on the john, everyone will hear....there is no separate toilet door so not a good date spot unless you're into that. It's also right by an outdoor concert venue so if you want any rest before that shuts down you'd better be able to sleep with a lot of noise."
