"So just for the basics, there was no beach view. We did not have to use the air-conditioning based on exterior temperatures, but the climate control in the room seemed to work just fine. The inside of the room was pretty nice and comparatively priced to other rooms in other hotels. But that’s about the only comparison. The Showboat is completely a rundown place in need of many repairs. The elevators are pretty disgusting inside. The room had a slight smell of some type of smoke be at pot for cigarettes. The common areas of the hotel are poorly kept. The check-in people were very helpful, I do have to say. Many of the employees were very nice and helpful as well. However, the check-in process was a little bit of a mess. The parking garage is an absolute dump. Several elevators not working. Zero to little food options except for a snack bar. Multiple police incidents took place. If you’re looking for a clean, wholesome family place to stay, this is not it. If you’re looking to get a large room to put a bunch of people while you spend most of your time in other places, it might work for you."
