UNESCO World Heritage Site: Rideau Canal - Ottawa Lock, Ottawa, Canada
The Rideau Canal connects Ottawa on the Ottawa River to Kingston on Lake Ontario. It is 202 kilometres in length. The canal was opened in 1832 as a precaution in case of war with the United States. It remains in use today primarily for pleasure boating, with most of its original structures intact. It is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America. (Wikipedia)

Downtown Ottawa away from the new build.

Start (or end, depending which way you're coming, I suppose) of the Rideau Canal which connects Ottawa to Kingston on Lake Ontario. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest continually operated canal in North America. It's mostly used for pleasure boating these days, and in winter when it freezes over, you can ice skate on it!
