It's a nice hotel. The room was clean. The workers were friendly. The breakfast in the restaurant was good. However, those are merely minimum standards that may be found in many hotels--even those priced lower than Allegria. I found the decor and design to be cold/austere. There is no door on the shower and water ends up on the bathroom floor. The only bath mat became soaked. The layout of the bathroom felt awkward, including the placement of the towel bars. I was confused about the wi-fi system, unsure if it was free or if there was a charge. Actually, I always wondered if there was an additional charge for every available amenity. So I ended up avoiding certain things because I was afraid I would end up paying additional dollars for an already expensive room. General assessment: nice but not nice enough for the price.

I have been a long term customer of Sonder and love the self checkin process. Since Sonder no longer in business, I thought I would try this property since it markets itself as a former Sonder (I had usually stayed at the John St and Platt st Sonders in the Fin District.) Check in process was easy and same as Sonder before. However after that it was not the same. Every time I left my room each day, my code didn’t work when I returned. Had to call them every day (outside main lobby door at night) and wait 5-10 min to get in hotel and my room while they verified who I was and reset my code. On top of that, on my third night when on the phone outside my room waiting for them to fix my room access code for the 3rd day in a row, another guest tried to access my room right in front of me! She said they sent her a code with my room number! I told her you can’t go in there as that is my room and all of my personal belongings are in there! While I was still waiting on the phone with the hotel to fix my code, she had to call the hotel on another line! Once my wife and I finally got into our room on that last night of our stay, I not only locked the door but barricaded it from the inside with our luggage for fear that someone else would try to use a code and access our room while we were sleeping! I have no plans to return to this property again due to these issues. No confidence that new owners know how to use the access codes and ensure that each guest feels safe.
