Beautiful room. A unique Mexican character home on the banks of a tranquil river. We watched a giant aquana in the trees over the river view from our balcony.

Location is very convenient to shops and bus stops. Staff is helpful and speaks English. Bed was comfortable. Cool near the river. Our main complaints are - room was dark and we the could hear very loud music across the river at night. Loved the resident cats.

Garlands was a nice property. Our room was clean besides a used soap bar that was left in our bathroom. Liked that it was a secure location once granted access, but a little hard to find when arriving.

We felt we lucked out staying at the Garland's Del Rio. It has a boutique hotel vibe, with helpful, friendly staff. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to great restaurants and the beach. The pool area is a bit dated, but nice, and you're also given the option to use the rooftop pool of their sister hotel, just up the road. We'd stay here again!

The hotel is lovely, full of artsy character and charm. Loved staying here versus the antiseptic and impersonal beach-front hotels. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly, and the amenities are good, rustic and quaint. If you’re looking for a simple, refined and artistic place to stay; highly recommend. The neighborhood is quiet enough, safe and walkable. Great location.

Went here late October 2025, with my 16 year old son and nephew. WOW! We loved the hotel, the pool, the common areas and our enormous room. The hotel is so unique, and you'll feel quite at home right away. Gorgeous little art pieces and fantastic wood antiques and huge wooden doors. Location on the river was beautiful, and so relaxing. Music floats on the night air. Breakfast on the river side deck is WONDERFUL! Take advantage! Just be sure to sit protected under a sun umbrella, as the naughty iguanas are snacking on the berries above and might drop some leaves or bark Food was simple, but well made. Service was great. Here's a hint - to get to the Malecon take the back gate and pop over to the other side of the river. Mosey on down through the vendors stalls. This was such a neat way to get to the beach. Such a quick little walk. The Hotel staff went BEYOND our expectations. Front desk gals were amazing. They helped out with restaurant recommendations, tour info, directions. Try ANY restaurant that they recommend. Foodies will love them. The service staff fellows were so helpful and cheery. Bed was super comfortable. A/C was collllllddd. Ceiling fan, gorgeous furniture, colourful walls, nice bedding, little fridge, safe, The road out front is under construction (as of October 25, 2025)- so if you're ordering an Uber, make sure to grab the name of the hotel on the closest intersection for pick up. I will be back. This hotel is an absolute gem of a place.
