There was a near-by grocery store open 24 hours, which we frequented, and taxis were always available. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, and all areas were very clean. "It’s an economical hotel across the street from Kyoto Station so you have easy access to all the train lines. If you have breakfast included in your room rate, eat at the OMOFU roastery caffe in the basement instead of the buffet. Less choice but fresh made—the truffle scrambled eggs are terrific. The only complaint I have with the hotel-and this cost them a star-is the mattresses. They are more like futons with no springs or foam. My old bones couldn’t handle it and I barely slept. Considering that’s the whole reason for staying at a hotel, I should take more stars off, but if you like sleeping on a rock, you will be happy."
