Reasonable for the price
Location is good, close to the train station and subway, also a walking distance to the Coliseum. However, the hostel is very basic if comparing with others in Europe for the same price. It was okay, though, no problems.

Start with the good. Location and staff. The bad, stinks, dirty, bed bugs and always out of toilet paper.

The best hostel in Roma
This place was great! I felt very welcomed and the staff was helpful in every way. The front desk showed me where important spots were including the closest ATM and good shops to buy supplies for a budget minded traveler such as myself. The breakfast is amazing. You can go back up and get as many platefuls of bacon and eggs as you like! I'm a big breakfast eater so this was a lifesaver for me. The breakfast staff were very passionate about providing a plate full of food and a warm smile every time. Also got to hear some cool music while eating. The beds were comfortable and heater worked well. This was a wonderful experience. It is close to everything I mean everything. I would highly recommend Alessandro Downtown Hostel to anyone. You can't beat the price either!

Good for a short stay
The location of the hostel is pretty good, very close to the station Roma Termini and 20min away from the Colosseum. The staff is friendly, however the hostel does not accept payments through cards. Besides that, the breakfast is limited. The beds were very noisy and a bit uncomfortable. Overall a good place to stay for a short trip.

Great stay in Roma, thanks to Alessandro Downtown
Location was fantastic. PJ, filmur and Mike were awesome. Breakfast was great and so was the guy making it for us.

One of the better packpacker places I've stayed at in Western Europe. Very close to Roma Termini so less stress about continuing your Italian journey on time or returning to Fiumicino airport. An easy walk to the Metro at Termini where you can get trains to the Vatican and Colosseum. A great experience.

Hello - I stayed at the Alessandro Downtown Hostel Rome, Rome (province), Italy from Wed, Sep 18 - Sun, Sep 22. During my stay I was bitten by bed bugs. My hand was extremely swollen with the first bite. I communicated this to the staff and they noted they didn't find anything upon investigation. The staff who reviewed my bed area did mention he was not a professional with bed bugs and wasn't certain about what to look for. The staff at the front desk admitted they've had an issue with bed bugs. Sun 9/22 I talked to the 2 front desk staffs (Michael and other man) extensively about the issue and they also called the Manager named Ovens. Ovens wasn't willing to do anything else about the issue except change the room and laundry. That night, I received another bite. On Monday morning, I found a bed bug on my clothing and I have photo and video footage of it. It is outrageous that the hotel refused to do anything about this issue and that it appears to be recurring based on feedback online. Expedia should be aware of this as this is a serious health issue that is going unattended by the hostel and is putting people's lives and wellness at risk. I paid for a place to stay and had certain expectations. I did not pay to risk my health and potentially have additional medical expenses.

A clean, conveniently located hostel. Staff was friendly, and it was especially useful to be able to leave our stuff in an inexpensive locker on site in the morning before time for check-in.

Very average but good location
Washroom and bathroom was not clean. Room wes ok. I have been in many hostels and thos one was below average. The only good thing is the location. Mear Termini station. So accessible to everywhere. If you can fond better hostel around this location go for it.

One of the best hostels I have stayed at! The blankets, pillow, and sheets they provide are very good quality!! There are updated/modern air con systems in every dorm. This hostel was only a 7 min walk from Roma termini train station, which will take you directly to the FCO airport. Great location also, close to a lot of monuments! Highly recommend! Staff at front desk are very kind, patient, and helpful! There is a 5 euro deposit you will have to pay but get back at the end of your stay.

Even though I had prepaid my reservation the reception could not find my booking and I was asked to pay again which I did not. No air conditioning while the door at the WC could not lock. The god thing was the location. Other than that very basic.

The service was good. Big rooms. The AC wasn't strong enough for the room, so it never got cold. The bunk bed wasn't in the best condition, so it shakes. Good lockers. The power outlet might be a bit far from the bed so you better bring an extension Didn't have the breakfast, but it seemed worth It. The worst part ever was the location, I know, it's near termini, but the street was awful, full of garbage everywhere, grafitti in the walls, weird people around... I wouldn't walk around there at night, so I didn't.
