Outstanding truly one of the first class properties in the world the Michelin three star incredible had a chance to meet the chef.. charming , humorous , twinkle in his eye .. fantastic food A must stop if you’re traveling through Spain

We spent a very relaxing and comfortable 3 nights at Hotel Akelarre. Service from the staff at reception and in the restaurants is friendly and first class all the way. It was so quiet and peaceful during our stay.

This is truly a unique property, the views of the ocean are breathtaking. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Lack of thoughtfulness
The aesthetics, environment, and services are top notch. However, there are quite a few things they could improve. 1. Bathroom floor was super slippery. We have to be extra careful when we walk in. If you were wearing slippers or theres water on the floor, even more dangerous. 2. The curtain was quite different to close completely. It was heavy and leaves a big gap at the end, which will be a problem for light sensitive sleeper. 3. The door has no lock, so u cannot stop cleaners coming in if you forgot to put the do not disturb sign on the door. 4. The room service menu has very little choice. They have a room service menu and a snack bar menu, yet many items are the same. Overall, the hotel itself was amazing, great spa, convenient parking, good people, impeccable views. But there is still room for improvement on the thoughtfulness. The experience could have been better.

Beautifully set just outside of the city, the hotel is modern, peaceful with incredible views. It's an added bonus to have one of the best restaurants in the city as part of the hotel as well!

Overpriced hotel and restaurant, but fab views.
This is more of a 4 star hotel than a 5 star, as there’s no pool, despite being far from any beach. There’s a beautiful indoor jacuzzi at the wellness centre, but nobody there to help, so we had to get towels from an open massage room! No changing facilities that we could see, except for a mixed gender toilet with shower. No lockers either. The steam room was out of order. There was a new member of staff answering the phone who didn’t know anything about the hotel. Breakfast service was super-slow, though the food was ok and the views amazing. The location is idillic and the views stunning, but the service is very patchy. Certainly not what one would expect when spending €500 per night. We couldn’t work out the iPod-like room phone and couldn’t call reception at all: no instructions anywhere. We ate in the much lauded Michelin starred restaurant, but were quite disappointed to be truthful. Not worth the €300 x person.

This hotel is incredible. Seriously world class luxury. Staff was wonderful and all the little details in the room went above and beyond. Toiletries were super high quality and loved the traditional pastries left in the room for turn-down. Could have been the best pastry we had while in San Sebastian. I want to visit again and again.

Fantastic View
The hotel and staff are amazing. Views unreal and food that is for foodies. One draw back and a major one is that this is a beach area resort that has no out door pool or deck area to sun in a bathing suit. Spa is amazing as well.

The room was breathtaking, the restaurant was unforgettable but most of all the staff were so helpful and went above and beyond for us. Our flight got cancelled and we were put on a bus instead, we received calls from the hotel along the way to check how we were going so a driver could meet us as soon as we got to the airport. One of our bags go lost and the hotel staff once again came to the rescue calling to help sort it out before we had to leave. Can’t thank them enough. A very memorable stay.

Upscale hotel outside San Sebastián
Nice hotel, only weird thing is I could hear other people showering and got food poisoning from their restaurant which was supposed to have been great (too heavy sauces on everything). Otherwise the rooms are huge with amazing sea views (incl. from bathtub), the spa was great, what I could eat of the complimentary breakfast was also very delicious. The service was also good.

Beautiful views and sumptuous luxury
The most beautiful hotel on the coast, incredible views, and a great spa. I was only here for 2 nights, though I booked 3, only because a small airline cancelled. I wish I’d had 3! Akelare is gorgeous, it’s pure luxury. It’s a bonafide honeymoon or anniversary place.

An amazing experience.
It was an amazing experience. We were en route back to U K. Wish we had had more time to experience this fantastic hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and also the wine. I tried to find something that I felt could improve on my stay. The Egyptian cotton bed linen was luxurious. The pillows were too soft for me but I was told they have a choice of four different pillows which if I had taken the time to read in the hotel blurb I would have found this out. Certainly recommend a stay here.

Beautiful hotel with Stunning views and Great Staf
This hotel is modern and the attention to detail throughout the hotel as well as the rooms is beautiful. The huge outdoor terrace affords stunning views of the Bay. What is nice is that the rooms have their own balconies which are situated in such a way to allow for complete privacy. Another plus is the staff - they are excellent and go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. We were surprised when one of the staff called a friend at the next hotel we were staying at to let them know we were coming to the hotel that day. We were given an upgrade because of that call. There is also a 3-star Michelin restaurant located in this hotel. If you stay at this hotel you will not be disappointed.

Amazing hotel. While planning my trip I initially wanted to book the Maria Christina. But it was sold out. Turns out this was a good thing. The akelarre hotel has one of the most amazing views. The food and service are also great. It is in a nice quiet area and is 15 minutes from the center of San Sebastián. Highly recommend this hotel.

World Class Luxury
We stayed recently and it was a magnificent experience. Ultra modern, 5-star luxury with fantastic architecture and stunning views over the Bay of a Biscay. Staff are outstanding - friendly, helpful and dedicated to your experience being top draw. The restaurant offers a wonderful cocktail bar with glorious sunset views, whilst the ala carte and fine dining gastronomic restaurants prepare food that is out of this world. We have had the privilege of staying in some great hotels worldwide, however, this is our new favourite. 10/10 in every capacity.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views
Beautiful hotel set on the Igeldo mountain with amazing views of the Bay of Biscay and not far from the hustle of the city centre. Being out of town creates a tranquility perfect for relaxing but a short ride puts you in the shopping district and old town where the pintxos are a must. Staff are helpful and friendly and whose English is far better than my Spanish. The three Michelin star restaurant is definitely worth a visit whilst the sister restaurant although not fine dining still provides beautiful and delicious cuisine. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable experience and definitely one place / hotel we will return to.

Check in was very slow. We were left on a sofa for about 15 minutes and no one came to help us with our luggage when we came out of our car. We were informed of a frequent shuttle to San Sebastián as and when we needed it, then told on the morning we needed a transfer we’d have to wait an hour or get a taxi! So mixed messages here which was disappointing and unexpected. Payment was also taken about 2 weeks before arrival which I wasn’t expecting. Other than this the views and food was second to none and I had a great time. Just a shame there were a couple of aspects which left a bit of disappointment.

This place is heaven on earth. The service was top notch and the space is just absolutely stunning. Such a peaceful getaway. Also, make sure to eat at the eponymous restaurant which has 3 Michelin stars.

Modern elegance in San Sebastian
Stunningly beautiful boutique hotel with gorgeous ocean views from the rooms, the restaurants and the bar. A quiet and serene get-away from the bustle of San Sebastian. Amazing attention to detail in every aspect of the property. Don't miss having lunch or dinner at the three star Michelin restaurant - worth a trip all by itself. The beauty and detail of the property are matched by the incredible staff. Everyone was amazing - a Five Star experience. Dedicated Wi-Fi in each room, ocean views from the baths, beautiful balcony, just an amazing experience. One of the most pleasant, relaxing and rewarding travel experiences ever.
