"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "Excellent facilities, friendly service, quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect accommodation with the right mix of camping sensibility and the comfort of the hotel. My friend and I spent a lot of time in the accommodation and auxiliary facilities, as it was such a wonderful accommodation to just fall asleep and leave."

"Lovely hotel, with excellent Japanese breakfast, and kind and helpful staff always willing to go out of their way to help bewildered foreign children. (They even let us check in early when they saw how exhausted my son was.) Rooms also very reasonably priced!"

"Чистые номера, есть все необходимое, красивый панорамный вид на горы. Приятный сервис, вежливый и внимательный персонал. Не понравилось что laundry находится в другом корпусе, куда двери закрыты, нужно ждать когда откроют выходящие люди или звать персонал с ресепшена. Так же нет даже кресел во втором корпусе для ожидания окончания стирки/сушки. Рядом есть аптека, супермаркет и пару ресторанов."

"We loved the stay at this hotel. Very convenient nearby Shizuoka station and plenty of shopping/restaurant choices. We'd stay this hotel next time again."
"A wonderful ryokan with a lovely staff, who also speak good English. We were courteously picked up from Yaizu station and then dropped off when we checked out as well. The room is very large, bed comfortable, and filled with modern amenities. Even the temperature of our private onsen can be adjusted down to 39C (which I preferred). The meals were elaborate and delicious, served in a very tranquil and comfortable setting. I would definitely return in the future. I especially recommend this hotel to solo travelers, as this one of the very few higher end, full service ryokans with a private onsen that accepts lone guests."
"Modern Inn felt more like a hotel, than an Inn! Very suburban, but walking distance to McDonald's, Lawson. But we needed to take a taxi for real sushi."
"The staff were very friendly, and I appreciated the public bath being open until midnight — such a nice convenience. The room was spacious enough for a solo stay; however, there was a slight odor that was a bit noticeable. Overall, still a comfortable experience."
"We stayed at the hotel as we went to visit the Shizunami Surf Stadium. Hotel was good but sort of isolated. There was only a McDonalds and a 7 Eleven close by. Finding a cab was impossible, so we recommend asking people at the reception to book it for you. They were very helpful! Wish we could have visited their spa but unfortunately if you have tattoos you are not allowed. "
"Staff were very helpful when i checked in here. I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores. Local travel felt a bit limited but that has nothing to do with the hotel itself."
