Valverde Sintra Palácio de Seteais - The Leading Hotels of the World
10/10 Excellent
"This was a luxurious hotel, the surroundings had lovely gardens with fruit trees, maze styled shrubs and a terrace that overlooks Sintra. Location is about a 15minute walk to the historic area, and a 40 minute walk from the train station. The staff is very attentive and available to help with any needs. The rooms are spacious, shutters on the windows, well appointed washroom which was separate from the sleeping area."
"Unfortunately Night 1 - A/C was found not to work in our suite, so we changed rooms to a nice upgraded roomwith a beautiful mezzanine bedroom located on the opposite wing of property.
Unfortunatey we found that the A/C in this room also did not work, and being that it was out of the daily afternoon sun it didn't get quite as hot. We chose not to move and reported it on check out.
The staff was wonderful, we had to leave at 3:00am to catch a flight, and the wonderful young man was nice enough to turn on the coffee machine just so I could take a coffee with me.
The only other complaint I have was the number of children (mostly toddlers) that were running around. There wasn't a moment you could enjoy the pool or go for a meal without hearing screaming kids or kids running around.
Over all, I would absolutely go back, I would just want to be assured of working A/C as well as pick a better time (if there is one?) where there are less children (My baby days are well beind me.)"
"The room was large but it needs to be renovated, it is showing its age. It was nice to have a balcony but the chairs, table and floors were dirty. The breakfast was nice it had a good selection. We took advantage of the Happy Hour and prices and selection were good. The Lobby is lovely. The staff at the front desk and bar were very nice and accommodating.
The location is great right in the historical center. The major issue was getting to the hotel. Uber drivers are not sure where to drop you off and cannot enter the historic center because of the hydraulic bollard in the middle of the street. We had to walk about 1 mile uphill with our luggage, not an easy task and if you have any kind of disability it is an impossible task. Also due that impasse they cannot pick you up in front of the hotel either.
All in all, we were pleased with our stay but due to these issues we would never stay there again.

"We loved the Chalet in Sintra!!! This had been constructed as a mansion 150 years ago and had been converted into a boutique hotel. They accommodated an early check in and upgraded us to a suite on the top floor for half the upgrade price. Our room had a view of the ocean!
The property was light on amenities, but it was not the sort of place focused on that. It was quaint, romantic, comfortable, clean, with excellent bathrooms. It had maintained much of its 19th century charm and fit in so nicely with the vibe of the village. The was an incredible restaurant across the street, and a excellent cafe up 1 block. The main town was just a quarter mile down the road.
The staff was incredibly helpful not only with the hotel but with reservations, sightseeing guidance, etc.
Would love to stay here again."
