"This was a great spot to stay on our first night in Exeter! It's right in the center of town so you're really close to everything. There's also a pub downstairs/next door which was convenient. We had a minor plumbing issue the first night, but the hotel was able to take care of it. I would stay here again!"
"The apartment was great, close to shops, and food. However when l went out for coffee early in the morning the neighbourhood was very dirty and seemed a little sketchy."
"The hotel is a bit tired but the enthusiasm of the staff made all the difference.
The breakfast buffet was first class and I enjoyed using the swimming pool .

"Because we had train delays we were late booking in.Not a problem though The friendly receptionist was very welcoming. The bed was huge and after a very stressful day we had agood nights sleep in the most comfortable bed. Checkout was not until 12 noon so we had time for a quick visit to the city centre which is about a 5 minutes walk away The train station is just across the road so this is a very convenient place to stay"
"What a great little hotel. The opposite of what you'd get at a soulless chain hotel, full of nooks and crannies, old world charm, quirky but comfortable too. We loved the bedroom too, so comfortable. It's just a stones throw from the centre of Exeter, the cathedral and quayside area as well as the catacombs etc. Excellent food too at City Gate and lots of great restaurants to try out nearby too.
Pretty much no downsides. Parking was an issue. Breakfast was gorgeous if a little pricey. Otherwise I couldn't recommend City Gate enough.

"We had a lovely four night stay at the Mill on the Exe while in Exeter to watch rugby. The room was comfortable and clean with a view of the River, and the breakfasts were superb. We also dined at the restaurant on Sunday evening to enjoy their traditional roast dinner & a delectable sticky toffee pudding. Overall, it was a wonderful stay with easy parking, comfortable accommodations, and a standout breakfast menu."
"Huge fan of this place. A littke quirky due to its age. Felt like somewhere harry potter would stay! Clean and with character. Nice breakfast and the staff were friendly. Ive stayed a few places in execter that cost much more. Ill come back here in a heartbeat. "
