The Ubud Monkey Forest is a site for Balinese Hindu worship and every aspect of the grounds has sacred meaning, from its trees and temples, to its long-tail macaques. This site is also a research centre where you can learn more about the monkeys and some 115 species of trees. The site is also known as the Padangtegal Monkey Forest because it is owned by the village of Padangtegal, one of Ubud’s communities.

Having experienced the delights of Uluwatu Beach, amble up to the Uluwatu Temple. Here, marvel at one of the oldest religious buildings in Bali. A key directional temple (this means its purpose is to ward off evil spirits), Uluwatu towers 70 metres above the Java Sea. The immense crashing sound of the waves adds to the dramatic setting; it's easy to understand why this spot has long inspired humility in men.

Seminyak Square is a small but stylish shopping complex in the heart of Seminyak, an upmarket resort village on the west coast of Bali. The shops in the complex sell a wide range of items, from clothes, jewellery and accessories to books, artwork and Indonesian souvenirs.

Nusa Dua Beach is a stunning stretch of sand along a scenic peninsula in southern Bali. High-end resorts and rows of palm trees decorate the back of the beach, while the warm blue-green seawater laps the shoreline. Sunbathe on this postcard-pretty beach to enhance your tan.
