Clean, easy feelling vibe. A light was out in our room. Cheap shower gel. No lotion. Very snowy at entrance , where you had to drive in.

Thank you for your comment Margaret. February has been really snowy for us here on the South Coast and we do our best to clean the road and entrance but like we say in Iceland you wave your hand and you have full of snow again or even different weather.

A perfect 10
Clean, adorable hotel with a wonderful view of the nearby ocean. The staff was AMAZING - incredibly friendly, assistive and informative. The included fresh breakfast that was offered was just the cherry on top we needed for our stay here. Can't wait to visit here again.

The Volcano Hotel is small, privately run hotel with a limited number of rooms. The rooms are spacious with a large comfortable bed and sofa — a welcomed change from the cramped accommodation of the capital city. The staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable of the region. Breakfast is served daily and laundry service is offered for a small fee which was a life saver. The grounds are quiet and secluded, perfect for catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights without the need to leave your comforts far behind. A short 10 minute drive to town offers dinning options and shopping. Nearby is the iconic Katla Glacier and black sand beaches providing plenty of natural wonder to enjoy, in addition to the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse at the southern most point in Iceland where you have a breath taking view of the sunrise/set. We are so happy we stayed here and will certainly return on our next visit to Iceland.

We had to shift our plans slightly with Blue Lagoon being closed, so instead of staying in that area, we jut drove straight to Vik and needed a place to stay the first night. This place was perfect! It's about a 10 min drive from the main town of Vik which was perfect. The hotel was very clean and roomy and they had a lovely breakfast for us in the morning. You get a great view of the sky too, it was very clear and we could see the milky way here! It was a great first night in Iceland. The hotel and the room were very clean. Highly recommend!

It was a quick stay, but enjoyable. Check in was fast, the man working was nice, the room was comfortable, clean and warm. We liked breakfast. And it was the perfect location.

This was one of our favorite stays on our 10-day trip. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel right at home! Our room was spacious and had an amazing view. The location is perfect and allowed us access to so many activities. We had dinner there as well and is was some of the best food on our trip! Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at tis hotel. The staff were very responsive. The breakfast was delicious. We asked about laundry and they said they would wash our stuff for us. It was reasonably priced too! The rooms were well appointed. After having to wake up early for a tour, we saw the Northern Lights. The hotel was in a dark place and had an excellent view. The hotel was also located close enough to two other towns to be able to have dinner out. Can't say enough about the location, it was perfect!

Reception and helpfulness of desk staff was superb. Room was spacious and clean. Perfect go single night stayovers. 12 min drive outside of Vic so be aware there are no restaurants or shopping in immediate vicinity.

The meal of a lifetime!
We booked room 7 - huge and comfortable, with a great view out towards the sea on a sunny evening. couldn't be bothered to drive so ate in - they took our order on arrival, and cooked it while we unpacked and freshened up. When we got into the dining room, we were the only customers, but they had laid a table with a view. And what a meal - the lamb was the best we've ever had anywhere! The Greek lady on duty was friendly and efficient, and a pleasure to talk to. A good breakfast next morning sent us off really happy. It's not the cheapest place, and may not look out of the ordinary when you drive up, but go inside!

Excellent place just outside of Vik
I was very happy with my stay here. Super close to Vik but out in the peaceful countryside. I slept very well, it was quiet, and breakfast was excellent! I will definitely stay here again when I'm back in Iceland.

The manager at the hotel was very polite and sweet. The rooms were beautiful and as big as you can imagine. Breakfast was included in the stay and was quite nice. It was a refreshing stay after a long day. The size of the room is worth mentioning twice! Also, everything is quite close, the dirholay beach and VIK city is 10 min drive.

We had a lovely stay at the Volcano Hotel. It was a clean, comfortable, quiet and quaint hotel with very comfortable beds for my family of three. It was conveniently located just outside Vik right on the ring road midway between Reykjavik and Jokulsarlon where we went to see the Glacial lagoon. The staff were friendly and helpful in providing and adapter plug for our USA plugs. The included breakfast was welcome and hearty. There is a must see Black Sand beach nearby to see puffins and the basalt causeway seen in GOT. I would stay here again.

Our favorite of entire trip. And dinner - AMAZING
this was an absolute surprise, all around. Just delightful! Rooms are fabulous - huge and comfortable... gorgeous view, great bedding/excellent sleep, wonderful black-out curtains and also beautiful light during day/evening through big windows (mid-summer stay) Breakfast is fantastic. So so good... But best of all was our freshmade dinner to order! Just incredible... atlantic char, fresh new potatoes, salad... and that bread and butter - FABULOUS! Our host also, delightful and sweet.... We cannot say enough about this stay. Convenient to so many beautiful sights, lovely food, lovely people, great service and amenities... everything about Volcano Hotel - 10 stars perfect.
