"The service from the staff was exceptional and really was the highlight of the trip. Elvis and Felix spoke English and really helped us navigate the city, arrange rides and make plans.
The location is beautiful and very relaxing, though the distance from the city made it a bit challenging to get food.
The provided breakfast was excellent and the restaurant on site was also really good (but a bit pricey)."
"The hotel is unbeatable and right across the cableway station to enter Tianna Mountain. Friendly staff and well maintained facilities for an aging hotel."
"The most friendly and helpful staff I’ve met in a hotel. The location is excellent and the maintenance of the facilities is impeccable. Thumbs up! 👍👍"
"No.5 Valley Lodge was the absolute highlight of our honeymoon. My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Zhangjiajie, and nothing else came close. You wake up surrounded by mountains and rice fields — literally inside the national park. Breathtaking and unforgettable.
This isn’t a luxury hotel — it’s a mountain lodge, and that’s its charm. Rustic, big, built entirely out of wood. The staff are the heart of this place. Shoutout to Frankie for making us feel at home, and to the Tea Master for her warmth, incredible tea ceremonies, and gifts we’ll treasure forever. Luggage help was always there without asking — service here puts many luxury hotels to shame.
For our honeymoon, the staff decorated our entire room with balloons and messages — one of the most thoughtful gestures of our trip. Breakfast was fantastic, served right next to our room. The hotel also provides free transport to the Avatar Mountains, which are incredibly close.
Things to know: the wooden construction means sound travels between rooms. The lodge is remote — the city, Grand Canyon, and other attractions require a ride, and hotel transport is pricey (we used DiDi). But we came wanting a deep nature experience, and that’s exactly what we got.
Not for everyone, but for us it was perfection. The best stay of our honeymoon, no question."

Zhangjiajie Shisuji Hotel - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Avatar Scenic Area Branch
10/10 Excellent
"Great place, well located near of the park east entrance (10 mins walk). Spacious room and room amenities (just be careful with the step next to the bed). Special mention to the hotel manager/concierge and staff. Helpful attentive and knowledgeable about the area and really valuable help in organizing your days ( special mention to Sunny…. The heart of the place).
"
"First our room was dirty, carpet, and found food remainings on the floor. Carpet was just dirty and the room smell just dirty. We requested to be changed to another room and they requested to upgraded. We did upgrade for $200. More. The food was not what we expected. Just very plain and simple. Did not have hot tea option. We have been to other hotels in Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai and they absolutely offered much better services.
I will not recommend this hotel at all. We will come back to Zhangjiajie, but will stay at a different hotel for sure.
For what ever a customer pay, the least we all deserve is a CLEAN ROOM. I hope business owners do take into consideration customers’ reviews. At the end of the day it is up to us to keep your business running. "
