"Staff was very friendly. Room was bright and decorated nicely, though small as is to be expected at a historic hotel. It was very expensive when we were there, and I don't think worth the price. It appears to be a grand historic hotel, but there's no lobby to appreciate this -- only the dining room. There's no big historic lobby area, just a normal check-in desk. It is really the only place to stay if you want to be in downtown Lakeland, which is nice. We did enjoy walking around the small town. It would be nice if the hotel provided a walking map to the historic buildings or things to see. Free valet parking from a very nice attendant. There's a small veranda at the back for sitting outside."

"It was terrible not having a coffee pot in the room. Who wants to get dressed just to have your first cup of coffee in the morning? Also we go on vacation to sleep in and if you do you will not get any breakfast because they close breakfast at 9:00am!!! That is unheard of. The choices for breakfast was very limited and my husband said it was not good . Also the blinds are nice but everyone knows a good quality nights sleep includes a cold dark room. Light comes through the blinds. I have never been in a hotel room without a room darkening curtain. It was very pricey and very poor quality for amenities. We will not stay at this chain again."

"I have never written a negative report about any place I have stayed in till now. I would like to say that the young man at the front desk was very helpful but he can only work with what he’s got. The first room had a broken A/C. The second room had a television on that I couldn’t turn off. The fellow at the desk gave me a new remote that worked, but I couldn’t get the deadbolt to work. The third room had the TV and a light on but I couldn’t turn either off. The room was really not acceptable, but I was trying to stay off my right foot due to some problems with my big toe, and I couldn’t just keep going back and forth. Without question this is the WORST place I have ever stayed at. While the location is actually pretty good, this level of disrepair and neglect on the part of those responsible for maintaining the physical facility is truly inexcusable!"

"Breakfast was typical but would have liked more fresh fruit options. Parking was fine. Room was clean but dated. Still has carpet and single use soaps. Staff was friendly. Overall my biggest complaint was price. $300 a night and definitely not a $300 a night hotel. "

"The staff were outstanding; they are friendly, hard working, and try very hard to keep an older building clean & inviting. Our room even had a little character which I loved. There was a little alcove for the microwave, coffee maker & fridge. The bathroom had cute French doors. "

"Pancake machine broken, no waffles, menu said biscuits and gravy. None! Toilet lid broken. Fitness room had used equipment and accessories for equipment not there. Triped over buckled floor tiles. For a BW Plus, it had too many -‘s."
