A very nice, quiet place in a good location, a reasonably short walk to both Bowness and Windermere. The host, Paula, is very kind and helpful and I really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast! If I come back to the Lake District I'll stay there again.

Fantastic stay in Windermere! Thanks for Richard and Paula, we had an amazing time for 3 nights. Great taste breakfast provided everyday, the room is classic furnished and the location is good. With impacted introduction from Paula, we explored most of areas of Lake District. We enjoyed our holiday here and will definitely choose Kirkwood for the next time.

Paula was a delight! Loved her advice and helpful tips. Our little family room was perfect and so cozy. The house is perfectly located close to the Badderley Clock Tower bus stop, and perfectly situated between Bowness and Windermere. Breakfast is not to be missed! Everything was locally sourced and delicious. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyable 2 night stay. Room warm and comfortable. Had the option to eat breakfast in our own room or the dining room. Breakfast was exceptional, all local produce with a vegetarian option. Richard and Paula were very friendly. Would definitely recommend and would 100% stay again ☺️

Overall - very good and would recommend. The DVD remote wasn’t working, but the chap was straight on to it, and the next guests will have a new remote. The breakfast sausages had a burnt layer on them, but we think that’s the way they fry them. Nice people and great accommodation.

The owners (husband and wife) are friendly and helpful. After we checked out in the morning , we left our luggage there for being picked up late evening. The owners kindly gave us a key for the front door, so we can come back to pick up luggage’s in our convenience. We appreciate their kindness.

We really enjoyed our stay here, breakfast was delicious and plenty to choose from, there was a low beam in the loft room which I banged my head on in the middle of the night. I wouldn’t let this put me off staying here again though as the building is a old cottage style so features like this are expected in a loft, bed was a little on the small side too but again as expected in the loft room.

What a lovely place to stay! We stay around Bowness a few times every year and staying at Kirkwood was our all time favourite. The location is perfect, peaceful and quiet, yet a 5 minute walk to Windermere town and maybe 6 or 7 minutes walk to Bowness. The owner was so friendly and chatty, and was there to give suggestions and advice about lical places to visit, places to eat etc, and the breakfast was perfect, you could just tell that high quality ingredients were used throughout. The room was lovely too, spotlessly clean, nice decor without trying to do too much. Shower was perfext- modern, easy to use and was immediately the right temperature. Having stayed at over a dozen guest houses in the area, this is the one that got everything just right for us and is our new favourite.
