The room was very dim. A few of the bulbs were spoil. No hot water. Simple breakfast. Wifi was strong, location is good and staffs are very friendly though. Good for a day stay.

Enjoyable stay in amazing location
Excellent value for money. This hotel is old but clean and efficiently run. The staff are very helpful and the doorman regularly assisted us getting taxis to the sights. Breakfast is limited choice but pleasant. It's location is superb for visiting sights and good choice of restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.

Loved it
We loved our stay at this hotel. On the plus side, the.location couldn’t be better, it practically defines the centre of Yangon and everything of interest downtown is a few steps away. Also the restaurant is the best we found, breakfast is good and even for lunch or dinner the food is great and very reasonably priced!! On the minus side, they claim there is hot water “if you let it run long enough”, but we never got there... and we stayed 4 nights!!

Location outstanding. Top floor room is supposedly their best but water pressure was unacceptably low. Complained to front desk at night and was told it is going to be like that! Next morning again complained since water was trickling, and they acknowledged some issue and fixed. Still water pressure was low. Staff very good. Breakfast ambiance unappetizing and therefore did not avail it.

You get what you pay for
A tired hotel. The staff are friendly and do a good job, but the hotel needs renovation. Doors are thin so corridor noise is an issue. Room is clean, but furniture is worn, bed is sunken in and towels are worn out. You get what you pay for.

Cold showering water, Unlimited drinking water
I have read reviews about the showering water issue but was taking it seriously. The first day I arrived Yangon was of heavy rain. I got myself wet and chilled when I showered. Unlimited drinking water on the other side is a big plus. You would understand it when you arrive in Yangon. The whole city is short of water supply. People had to rely on bottled water everywhere in the markets, on the streets.

Location on Sule pagoda road is perfect.
Location is perfect, rooms in the back are quiet, bed is good. The shower box is weird as has heen explained by other reviewers, and to get from too hot water to good temperature take a while. Large waterfall showerhead. So a very good stay.

Close to downtown Yangon
The hotel is close to downtown Yangon with a lot of places within walking distance. The food from the attached cafe where you get your breakfast is not that good.

Odd toilet & bathroom; unlimited bottled water
The hotel was really rundown and I did not appreciate the fact that their main advertising photo was very misleading. I thought it was the lobby but turned out that it was the hotel restaurant. The lobby was quite shabby actually while breakfast fare was limited. Their toilet and bathroom was also oddly designed. The only good thing about the hotel was its location and the fact that bottled water comes in unlimited supply.

Weekend in Yangon sightseeing
Perfect central location, food in hotel restaurant was very reasonable in price. For what I paid for the hotel I could not fault it and would stay there again.

Just the ticket
I have stayed here repeatedly over the years since it opened. It is professionally run, clean and friendly. The location is great if you want to be in town. The neighborhood has gotten tidied up and I miss the tea shops on the sidewalks, but it is still a nice small hotel. For the money, it is a good deal. Simple restraint if you don't want to go out, though there are now choices along the street for several blocks.

We got at Hotels.com a room with a window facing wall, a toilet with a folding door (not totally separated) and a shower also without a door. The room setting is quite disappointing at that price, though the location is great.

Convenient to Old Yangon.
Decent mid-range hotel in the heart of the colonial area of Yangon. The decor is a bit odd, but if your priorities is clean and comfortable room in walking distance of the main sites, this is a great option. Best part is free bottled water for guests -- which is a huge plus! Biggest downside is that the bathroom isn't really a room, but instead the shower is like a booth in the room, and the toilet is behind a folding curtain. Not very private.

Pros: - It closes to my working place. - The service was good and people are nice. - Room is tidy and generally clean. - Convenience store nearby. - Breakfast is ok (better than the one I stayed before) Cons: - Room is not big but enough for basic living. - Wifi is free but speed is very slow (even loading pictures). - Mobile signal was not good in the room. - No refrigerator. - Desk is small but still enough for a laptop computer and a mouse. - Not much electric sockets, must bring your own extension if you need to connect to multiple devices.

Standar Hotel rooms (as booked through Exoedia) seem to be ones with very small narrow windows and very dark as a consequence. On checkin to this category room I also found great difficulty in getting the plugs sorted so that I could hook up my laptop and recharge mobile phone (also a confusing mixture of 3 pin and 2 pin plugs) Meant I had to pulll out bedside table from wall to get all these working.. Then I couldnt get internet connection in room so I decided to pay upgrade to change to a Junior Suite. This was a nice sized room with a lot of light and the 'difference between day and night'-literally! But downside was still NO internet connectivity in room, also shower was pitiful and being on top floor,probably lacked any pressure. That said, it was worth the extra $$'s for a much nicer place to spend time for my 3 nights in Yangon. a distant view of Swedagon was an added bonus along with the curiousity of a bathtub in the bedroom proper- Breakfast in the hotel was fine with an adequate range of choice. Best of all, was the location, so walkable to everthing in the area of Downtown..

East Hotel is located in the heart of Yangon. All the main attractions are within walking distance or a short cab ride away. The staff were friendly and generally helpful. The breakfast was good, and there is unlimited bottled water for your room. The wifi was slow, but that seems to be the case all over Myanmar. The room was comfortable, but the set up was unique. The toilet and sink were in a "room" together, separated from the main room by a folding door that was open at the top. The shower stall was in a separate "room", separated from the main room by a curtain. Don't expect much "bathroom privacy" if you're sharing the room with others. There is no hotel restaurant, and nearby options for dinner are somewhat limited, considering the hotel's location.

We all know that hotels are expensive in Yangon but $US50 for a place that does not have hot water, with lousy wifi in the rooms is just ridiculous. Breakfast is mediocre. Beer in the cafe is grossly overpriced. If you must stay here, at least eat at one of the neighboring restaurants. Go to the MGM hotel instead, cheaper and better.
