The hotel is in the “red light” district as such, but this was no issue for us at all. There are a number of nice and reasonably priced (for Zürich) eateries nearby, particularly Asian cuisine. It is close to the train station and close to the city centre, easily walkable. The staff on reception were always lovely and the hotel room was simple but nice, if a bit warm. My only issue is that the beds aren’t the most comfortable, but not so bad that it can’t be put up with for a few days.

Nice place to stay
The hotel was very nice. Close to the central train station. Breakfast was yummy. Great sausage pretzel restaurant/bar across the street. The beds were perfect and there was plenty of space in the room for luggage and walking around.

The walk to the hotel wasn’t bad from the train station. Even though it is in the cities red lights district, I still didn’t feel unsafe or anything walking around there. The room itself was really tiny. The air condition didn’t really do anything and if you open the window, then you’ll have to listen to all the bar noise in the area. One of the pillows had a stain that looked a lot like love juices. And one of the blankets had a red spot stain that looked a lot like a drop of blood. After we told the staff, they cleaned the room and we didn’t have issues the next night we were there. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Small rooms and noisy area.
I didn't think the rooms could be any smaller until I went to my buddy's room. For the price paid for these rooms, you should actually have some room. The level of the noise outside this hotel is ridiculously load.

Staff were attentive and helpful and when we were hungry at a very late night out, the staff opened up the kitchen at the restaurant which was about to close, superb stay!

A 10 minute walk from Zurich HB station, clean and functional and in what’s known as Zurich’s “play area” - lots of nearby bars and nightlife. This means noise risk on Friday and Saturday nights - we stayed on a Sunday night, so the bars were relatively quiet. The breakfast was excellent and good VFM at CHF16.

My son (15) and I had a great overnight stay here. Very reasonably priced, neat and tidy room, very comfortable bed and convenient location. We read the reviews before we came, some of which we found very amusing) and didn't experience any of the problems some listed. Yes it's in the red light district but we felt completely safe, didn't have issues with smoke etc. Easy walk to station and old part of town. Decent sized Coop across the road for picnic meals. Celia restaurant nearby did amazing pasta (pizza looked good too) and provided a 1/2 serve on request which was much appreciated. Recommended!

Comfy, cheap, clean, and nice.
Overall: I've stayed here before and I'll stay here again. It's cheap, comfortable, in a great location near my favorite coffee shops, and a quick walk to/from Zurich HB station. Only negatives: The drainage in the bathroom isn't great, so after a shower the floor was wet for a while. The walls are a bit thin so sound in the hallways & other rooms travels a bit easily. Earplugs solved that, but something to be aware of if you're super sensitive to noise or a light sleeper. Again, overall this place does the trick and I'll stay here again.

The Trip Inn is in a great spot for anyone who needs to be close to the station. However, it is in a night life district and the air conditioner provided required the window to be open so you had a choice between being hot and being woken by outside noise.
