Absolutely loved our stay. Convenient to Edinburgh (by car), great staff but what made our stay special was the property itself - absolutely beautiful... it's like being transported back in time. The setting is beautiful - so peaceful and the gorunds are beautiful.
The property grounds were stunning! The gardens were great and full of wildlife. The inside library was also fantastic. A wonderful stay for our last night in Scotland!
Excellent stay and service, food was excellent with a good choice offered on the menu.
The bar was also really good with several choices of beverages available, all were offered at reasonable cost.
This was my third visit and it’s the reason I return to Scotland. The property is so unique and I always have an amazing time, so much so that I took my nephew from London! The team did a great job looking after us! The lady who checked us in and delivered our breakfast in the morning was a real gem; I can’t remember her name- but she was a genuinely lovely lady and I’m sure it won’t be long until we return!!! Thank you!

Our room was amazing, full of character. Bed was super comfy slept very well. The rooms on the first floor for guests were wonderful our favourite being the library.
All the staff were lovely. We ate in every night and the food was delicious very good portions.
Would highly recommend a stay.
From the time we walked in, shaking terrified as Americans who had just driven on the wrong side of the road for the first times in our lives, the staff was nothing but wonderful. Greeted us with smiles, and were efficient. Quiet and accomodating at all times. Breakfast was great every morning, and the relaxing free range atmosphere was exactly what we needed. We lounged in almost every room and felt at home everywhere. We had dinner there two nights and everything was excellent. Highly recommend this location!
Gorgeous hotel and grounds.if you like history, this is the place for you.

Beautiful looking property on the outside with the main areas inside full of history, one of the most historic looking hotelsi have stayed at, however, with all this charm you are led to expect the same for the room! I was staying in a " Classic " room. Whilst i appreciate this is not a suite, the room was very tired and shabby. The bathroom was tiny, barely room to move. The carpets old and filthy. The rooms need completely redocrating. At nearly £190 per night for a tiny shabby room is disgusting. The place needs new management.
The breakfast offering is also not great. Lifeless dining area and poor quality.
I wouldnt reccommend unless the room prices dropped or the renovated the hotel.

The building and location are beautiful and staff were truly lovely and so helpful.
The bedroom was thoughtfully done and the bed was comfy. The bathroom is in need of a renovation, tired, grout etc was stained.
