Absolutely beautiful place. A classic Japanese style ryokan with modern amenities such as western beds, private toilet and electric heaters. (As well as the ultra-cosy kotatsu!)
Impeccable service and friendly welcome from host and staff.
Communication is fine with a few Japanese words and Google Translate to hand.
(A little reading up on Ryokan etiquette and manners are recommended for the uninitiated.)
The Japanese breakfast sets you up for a day exploring the area. Or just spend your time in your own bubble soaking up the views and atmosphere.
