A great boutique hotel in a historic district

Great hotel in a fantastic area of Lisbon. A short stroll down the hill and you will find yourself in a beatiful praca with the original bakery of the Pastel de nata. One of the best pieces of pastry youll ever have. Across the street are a row of resaurants and over the boulevard is a historic monastary. The staff at the hotel are amazing and provided support for us to get local recommendations and helped make a case to get the airline to refund us for delayed flights and missed nights at the hotel.

The staff is incredible Bruno, Leonardo, Claudia and Miguel were exceptionally helpful and friendly, they assisted us with our entire stay in Portugal and offered great advice and tips. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and thoughtful service that stays consistent throughout your stay. Every little detail feels curated with comfort and elegance in mind, from the decor to the amenities. The hotel itself is beautifully designed—charming, intimate, and refined, striking that perfect balance between modern luxury and cozy warmth. It’s the kind of place where you can really relax and enjoy some peace away from the noise of the city. That said, the one small downside is its location. It’s not right in the heart of downtown Lisbon, so if you’re hoping to walk out and be immediately surrounded by shops and major landmarks, this might feel a little tucked away. But if you’re okay with a quick ride into the city center, the tranquility and high level of service more than make up for it. Overall, this hotel offered one of the best stays I’ve had in Lisbon. If you’re looking for a luxurious, peaceful, and well-run hotel with truly outstanding service, Wine & Books is a fantastic choice. I’d stay here again.

Amazing hotel in Belem just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Lisbon. A quick 5 minute walk down the street to the Belem tower, transportation, and the best pasteis de nata. I’m so glad we stayed just outside downtown- perfect to unwind, go for morning stroll for coffee to ease into the day before heading to downtown. We chose to walk along the water from Belem to downtown Lisbon (~4 miles; about 1 hour) which was perfect for us to enjoy the beautiful weather. Lots of active people on bikes/running/scooters too. Wine and Books was the perfect escape. Take advantage of their knowledge to plan trips to Sintra and to book airport transportation. Their spa was great too. Highly recommend!
