Getting From Langkawi Airport to Your Destination
There is no public transportation system on Langkawi; people get around by renting a car (or motorcycle) or hiring a taxi. If you plan on needing to get around quite a lot, we recommend renting a car as costs for a taxi will start to add up.
By Car Rental: You can rent a car from Langkawi Airport from a number of rental companies, including Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. We recommend pre-booking your vehicle online, costs tend to be around SG$300 for a week for an economy car; however, these prices can vary depending on season, length of rental and type of car. Alternatively, if you choose to rent a car when you arrive at the airport, proceed to the rental counter in the Arrival Hall. You’re not as likely to get as good a deal as you will online, as they are not really open to negotiation and stick to their fixed rates.
By Taxi: To hire a taxi from the airport you will need to purchase a coupon at the specific taxi desk in the arrival hall and then present your coupon to one of the taxi drivers. Costs to different destinations vary, but are all likely to be less than 50Ringgit. You are likely to pay around 24Ringgit, to Pantai Cenang but 35Ringgit, for a trip to Tanjung Rhu.
