"It certainly has a wow factor with the tallest windows and ceilings I've seen in a small residential property. The fixtures, fittings and appliances are all high quality, (sadly lacking any manuals). Best to use what three words to locate it as the sat nav on postcode takes you to the wrong side of a wall, albeit very close to the front door. You do get some road noise from the main road due to the vented double glazing but this dies down at night so isn't an issue. All in all a great rental....

"Stayed here for overnight for our fifth anniversary. The hotel is in lovely surroundings and looks amazing. The staff are all friendly and helpful. However, after staying itโ€™s clear this venue is certainly more geared towards being a wedding venue, rather than a hotel. We were very kindly given a bottle of Prosecco for the occasion, which was very lovely. However, the room we were given was tiny, with a gap of around 8 inches between the bed and the wall, and was located directly above both reception and the bar toilets, so we could hear other guests checking in word-for-word, as well as taps and hand dryers every few minutes. I raised this with staff who again very kindly offered an alternative room which was much bigger and more appropriate - however still slightly noisy with doors throughout the venue being heard shutting. However, we were very lucky that this other room was the last available, otherwise weโ€™d have been stuck with the other. The receptionist explained this happens often with non-wedding guests, which we totally understood but there is no indication when booking that the venue is meant to be a โ€˜drop the bags, attend the wedding, sleep, and goโ€™. Again, the setting, staff and restaurant were all great. But we were slightly disappointed that the initial room was so inadequate and that this is seen as standard just because they primarily cater to weddings. Would recommend to anyone for a wedding, but any other stay Iโ€™d be less inclined."

"Yes, its an historic castle, but one that owns its current form to its restoration (from a ruin) in the early 20th century. We stayed in a Superior Room (1st floor) in the "Castle View" block - formerly the castle stables. Large, comfortable and very clean with a good bathroom. Perhaps a little too warm, but window and skylight open for ventilation. Although we did not choose the tasting menu, dinner was fabulous and wine by the glass excellent. Breakfast too was great (I particularly enjoyed the Craster kippers). All the staff we met during our stay were polite, helpful and friendly."
