"Wonderful place way off the beaten track, run by a very friendly, helpful and forthcoming couple. The house and its decoration is old and rustique but that does NOT mean it's poorly maintained, it's just old. Best breakfast ever, with a stunning view over lake Como. Driving up there is not for the fainthearted, and parking can be tricky if you're driving anything bigger than a Fiat 500, but - again! - the helpful hosts will solve that for you."

"First time in Italy, this hotel was extremely accommodating. Francesco is one of the employees there and he will go above and beyond to help out guests. He drove us down town and picked us up on multiple occasions, gave us free breakfast vouchers for a great local breakfast eatery, and answered all of our questions. Something else that was reassuring during this stay was Francesco’s english! He was very well spoken which allowed us to learn more about the city and recommendations. If you’re traveling to Italy, don’t look any farther. This is the place!"

"Learn from my mistake: Locanda Della Maria is close to the SAN GIOVANNI ferry stop. I made the mistake of assuming it was near the Bellagio ferry stop and had to make a very difficult walk to get there. Once there, it was TERRIFIC! Great value for money; very helpful staff, good breakfast and close to two “off the beaten path” places to eat; one casual (Nene) and one upscale local cuisine (Ittiturismo Mella ) both very good and CONVENIENT. Ask one of the staff for tips and your time in the Lake Como area will be much easier."

"This hotel was a treasure. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. You can request any service through WhatsApp, and the staff responds almost instantly. Additionally, the views from this hotel were spectacular, and the daily breakfast was consistently delicious. We appreciated not staying in the middle of the crowds in Bellagio, and the transportation to and from the town was really easy. We even found that we liked walking to and from the Bellagio when we were looking to do that, which is very doable. Overall, we would definitely stay at Borgo again and would highly recommend this place to our friends."

"Great, quite place. Peaceful. Great breakfast...that is the only meal served at the restaurant in. Very good. Great coffee. Great view!!! However... very difficult to get to from the ferry. Still unclear about taxis. It is not a hotel in the sence that someone is ways at the desk so plan/communicate ahead of time. It is a walk up steep stone stairs to the ferry/shopping area. Thankfully the hotel host found a taxi to get us back to the ferry!!! I would return."
