"This was an old pub/hotel so had that lovely ambiance. It was comfortable and clean; the staff was friendly and helpful. But the room had plaster patched that needed to be painted so looked unattended to. The breakfast was unexceptional & expensive. Other than those two things - it was fine for the price."

"The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful and always happy to have a chat when we were coming and going. Plenty of parking, room is a bit outdated if I was being ultra-critical but for the value of our stay it was a great value for money. The room was clean and had everything you needed. I would definitely stay here again "

"Check in was ok. The booking website failed to include an option which included breakfast, so I had to pay separately for that. The hand basin in my room was partially blocked and took ages to drain. .... other than that, it was most comfortable, thank you."

Hotel looking a bit tired and in need of some love and attention regarding decor, some carpets, etc. Lovely to sit outside on the river bank with a drink in hand or if the weather not favourable in the restaurant looking out "

"I had a very large quiet room at the side of the building on the first floor. Number 9. The bed was wonderful , comfortable with good pillows. The building itself is an historical gem. The furnishings and renovated bathroom are top notch. Breakfast was included, There could be a bit more choice but adequate. Location for the Cathedral opposite couldn’t be more perfect. A great team at The Chapter house. Thank you . "
