The Moorland Hotel, Haytor, Devon

"We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The hotel is comfortable and welcoming and sits right on the edge of the moor. Good road access to all areas. Bed, shower were great, meals were tasty (nice breakfast selection) and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. There are 2 areas for eating - the large bar and conservatory; the menus differ slightly in each. Nice terrace with parasols for al fresco dining. The lounge area was really pleasant to sit in after an evening meal - one night a live pianist was playing ( hits from last 50 years) and he was very good. A selection of board/card games were available if required. Would definitely stay again."

"Hotel value for the money ยฃ108 for 2 Adults bathroom was clean with Dover body wash and Dover shampoo with a button for a blue light so if you get up in the night for a wee you don't wake the wife up breakfast was good lots choices nice coffee machines and the staff wear always bringing out fresh food and cleaning tablets was there was one young lady no older than 16 or 18 in house keeping she was very polite every time you walked passed she would good morning with a smile then say are you okay for or coffee she should be at the front desk at reception 10 out of 10 . The only bad thing is you pay for parking no good for a hotel"

"Driving up to the hotel, it looked disappintingly like a low end budget hotel....i see now why the first image on expedia was of the attached Carriages Restaurant. On this particular visit, the land close by was being developed... cant hear anything, but the view from the room looked out towards the construction site. Carpet along the hallways was dated. Room itself was good but more attention needs to be paid to dusting.. there were threads of spider web in the coffee cups.. Air conditioning worked nicely, beds were clean and comfortable. Room wasnt as spacious as id throught it might have been. Bathroom was well presented...the tap did seem "blocked"... and indeed it was... after several wipes with tissue paper, wiping away gunk that had clogged it up, the tap was flowing nicely... toilet was low profile and clean. The experience with the taps did however make me feel uncomfortable using it. At night, on a clear night, the car park made for an excellent star gazing site."

"Lovely hotel, with incredibly warm and welcoming staff. We had our puppy with us who was well looked after and cared for by all. Restaurant was delicious and very attentive operations manager who ensured everything was of a very high standard and the dog was accommodated. Thank you for a lovely stay!"

"Lovely hotel, great rooms and such comfy beds. It was a warm night and the air con was very good. Iโve stayed here a few times now and the only reason Iโve not given 5 stars is that Iโm starting to notice a few minor maintenance issues creeping in such as some mould in the shower that hasnโt been cleaned. Apart from that though very much recommended and I look forward to my next visit, ๐"
