Loved our stay in this boutique hotel. Great room and very nice breakfast. Good location for the town centre. Look forward to staying here again one day. Would recommend!

Oasis in Franschhoek
Gorgeous little oasis in Franschhoek. Staff were very eager to please and the new wing where we stayed was well appointed. Minor points for improvement: coffee machine had very bright lights which came on when power came back on in the middle of the night - couldn't figure out how to turn them off so threw a towel over it! Staff may benefit from a little education about drinks in the bar and the absence of tonic to go with the wide selections of gin was a bit disappointing. It was very cold during our stay - the single spare blanket was insufficient as there is no heating when the power is out. But these are all comparatively minor points and the overall atmosphere, ambience and attention to detail were all excellent.

Amazing stay at the best boutique hotel out there
Had the most amazing stay at Chapter House for our honeymoon - the team were incredible hosts, and Byron in particular made my wife and I feel perfectly at home and couldn’t have done more to make our stay as special as it was - thank you so much! The hotel itself is beautiful and cosy, charming rooms, less than 5 minute walk from the centre of town and a lovely breakfast. Highly highly recommend to anyone and everyone - please go!

Worth going for the complimentary cheesecake in the afternoon alone!! We loved our stay at Chapter House. Beautiful decor, friendly staff, comfortable beds, wonderful breakfast, easy walking distance from shops and restaurants. Highly recommended .

Excellent Boutique Hotel
Great location and property for our stay in Franschoek. You can walk through the garden and you are almost at the High Street. The service was excellent. Everyone was very helpful and the quality of the accommodation was first class. I definitely would stay here next time we make it back to SA

Little gem in Franschhoek
Wonderful little gem in Franschhoek. The staff were very attentive, the room was lovely and the pool area was very welcome after a hot day! Will definitely be back.

Ideal Franschhoek Base
We had a wonderful stay at Chapter House. The location is ideal being so central and just a short walk to the main road through Franschoek. The property is immaculate, beautifully decorated and spotless. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which added to the homely feel. Our only let down was the cooked breakfasts (the buffet selection was fabulous however).

A pleasant stay
It was a very nice place , clean and tastefully done . The lady managing it was very kind and room was very comfortable and good size . And few minutes walk to the Main Street .

Chapter House was incredible!
My wife and I visited the Chapter House as part of our honeymoon. We were truly amazed by our experience there. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the property was beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend a stay at the Chapter House!

We immediately fell in love with this property! The historic architecture, the gardens, the enveloping sense of welcome and peace were just what we needed. Rarely have we been so impressed with a property. Unfortunately we heard there are new owners and extensive renovations are planned. Very much hope they keep the historic charm as there are far too few of those around anymore.

Central location and friendly staff
Our flight was delayed and the hotel called us to confirm if indeed I was coming over. We arrived early hours of the morning and we were checked in. The room was upstairs with only roof windows, without any visible view except the sky. I overlooked this since we were not going to stay there all day,otherwise this should have been a deal breaker.

The property was quaint and clean with a gracious staff, lovely breakfast, wonderful porch and a room with a plunge pool. The WiFi doesn’t work in your room or on the property, only in the main section. Overall a really nice boutique hotel.

Quaint common space, great location to shops.
The breakfast was fantastic! The common area is very friendly, clean and welcoming. Our room was just OK. The bed needs an update, it sagged and was as hard as a rock. The bathroom at first glance looked good, but then you notice the mold around the top of the shower. Plus the vent/fan was filthy! The water in our bathroom sink was brown, so we asked for bottled water. They ended up charging us for it! When I explained we needed the bottled water because their water was brown, my comment was dismissed by "Work is being done on pipes nearby." The hotel is in a great location to town, however, I will not be staying here again.

we are so sorry you did not have a positive experience here whilst staying in the guesthouse. The bottled water is usually on sale through out the Western Cape, and we do advise using that rather for drinking water, with the current drought situation.There was roadworks/waterworks repairs going on in the street yes.Facilities here are being upgraded accordingly.

Beautiful colonial-style boutique hotel
Very warm welcome from the caring and attentive staff to what is a charming colonial-style boutique hotel just 200m away from the Franschhoek high street. Lovely room with our own roof-top hot tub and a huge comfortable bed. Excellent breakfasts were cooked to order, and we sat overlooking the stunning lavender-filled garden.

Small but nice clean hotel
This hotel is very small with about 8 very differently furnished rooms. Although our room was the smallest of the ones available it was still very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The pool and sunbeds around it were more than adequate for the guests staying at the time. The breakfast included was very good. We would definitely come back to this unusual hotel and book one of the larger rooms possibly with the jacuzzi.

Delightful boutique hotel
Klein Oliphants is a delightful if quirky hotel set on a residential street about 100m from the main road in Franschhoek. Lovely garden, and freshly-cooked breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden was a highlight.

We stayed two nights - the hotel staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants, spas, and helping us make reservations. The hot breakfast they made us to order was excellent!

We arrived early but our rooms were not ready so we stowed our luggage at reception and wandered around the town. Once ready our cases were placed in the room ready for us on our return. Our room was on the upper floor and although entry was very tight once upstairs the Room opened out and was spacious. The room was a little tired and could do with a lick of paint, the air conditioning also struggled to cope with heat. We had a Jacuzzi on the deck outside along with two sun beds so we didn't need to use the pool. Breakfast was served out on the verandah at the back which had a lovely view through the garden out to the mountains. The staff were always very friendly and happy to help.

Right in Town
It is perfect for a charming weekend in Franschhoek. The surrounding neighborhood is safe and quaint and it is right in town; you can walk to everything. Will stay there whenever I am in Franschhoek.

Great location. Shame about the lack of a fridge
The location is a few minutes walk from the centre of Franschhoek. You can go out of the garden gate and just cross the road and into the rear entrance of Reuban's restaurant, it's that close to the centre but so peaceful. The ambiance is first class and furnished with antiques. The breakfasts are very good and sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden is idyllic. Our only complaints are: 1. No rooms are supplied with fridges. 2. Our room had the dressing table in the bathroom but no power point for a hair dryer. Also the mirror over the dressing table was too high. The bedroom was large and there was plenty of room to accommodate the dressing table in the bedroom. Why do hotel owners not actually sleep in their rooms sometime to find our the problems rather than leave this to their guests.i

Thank you for your review. In South Africa we do not have plug points in the bathrooms, this is not standard procedure. There are plug points in the bedroom area for hairdryers with adaptors available in reception. Charming Place; Strong Recommendation
We stayed in the room with its own, private, little pool. The staff was lovely, recommending places to eat, offering us in-house access to a small wine cellar, and the room came with a decanter of port (a nice touch). The breakfast was lovely, in the outstanding front garden. The location is very central to the small town of Franchhoek (easily walkable). The stay, overall, was worth every penny and we would recommend it.
