"Well the Hotel was closed. I had to look it up on the website, find a phone number and call the owner. She could tell me the hotel was closed for winter but she had an other hotel in town called Hotel Platani Bolsena. We chose the first hotel to sit on the balcony with a drink overlooking the lake in the sunset. The sun went down and we ended up in ordinary rooms at a doll hotel with veer bad breakfast. "A beautiful old stone building that has been stylishly decorated to provide several en-suite guest rooms. We only stayed for one night but wish we’d had more time here. This family run accommodation has a very homely atmosphere and is in easy walking distance to the lake, the castle and the Basilica di Santa Cristina. Our host gave us information about what to see in the town and where to eat as well as great suggestions for stop offs on our onward destination. "

"Easily found hotel on the main road, therefore there is some traffic noise if you have a room at the front. Room was good, with a comfortable bed, and very clean. The lady and gentleman who checked us in/out were very friendly. The walk into town from the hotel is doable and fairly level, where you can then take the funicular up to the old town (just beware it closes early - 7.30pm when we visited in October). "
