Collado Villalba is an important town in the province of Madrid, thanks to its strategic location between the capital city and Guadarrama mountain range.

This historic town enjoys a convenient location in the valley of the River Guadarrama, surrounded by hills and mountains. The town has been inhabited by Romans, Visigoths and Arabs, all of whom have left their mark on what is now a modern town with all the services and facilities you could want, especially after the new developments in the 1960s.

If you decide to enjoy some holidays in Collado Villalba, you’ll be able to discover beautiful natural landscapes on one of the many hiking routes in the surrounding area. The town is part of the Imperial Route, a tourist trail centred around the Monastery of El Escorial, and which goes through towns such as Guadarrama and Torrelodones. You can also go for shorter routes that cross the dehesas, or wooded meadows surrounding the town, and which offer some wonderful views of the nearby mountains.

But nature isn't the only reason to look for cheap trips to Collado Villalba. The town's heritage includes some interesting sites, such as the Nuestra Señora del Enebral church, from the 16th and 17th centuries, with a predominantly Romanesque style, the Piedra del Concejo, an ancient meeting point of the town's council and El Caño Viejo, an Arab fountain whose vault is particularly worth seeing.

Thanks to the quick, convenient public transport in the Madrid region, you’ll find it easy to get about to other towns in the area, or visit the main monuments in the capital city. Madrid is just half an hour away, meaning it couldn't be easier to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the big city. You won't want to miss other local points of interest, such as Cercedilla, Hoyo de Manzanares and San Lorenzo del Escorial.
