Clayton Plaza Hotel & Extended Stay

"The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the overall guest experience was disappointing. When I arrived, there was no soap in the shower. During my stay, trash was not picked up and towels were not exchanged. In fact, whenever I needed fresh towels or additional toilet paper, I had to go to the front desk and get them myself. Several amenities that influenced my decision to stay here were unavailable. The arcade and swimming pool were both closed, which was especially disappointing since I was traveling with my children. Another major inconvenience was the parking validation process. Every time I left the parking garage during the week, I had to return to the front desk to have my parking validated again. The only exception was on Saturday and Sunday. This became frustrating and time-consuming throughout the stay. I also requested a late checkout and was told that was not available. The staff members I interacted with were polite, but between the missing room supplies, lack of housekeeping service, closed amenities, inability to obtain a late checkout, and the repeated parking validation requirement, the overall experience fell short of expectations and did not provide the level of convenience I expected for the price."

"The breakfast this hotel is good, biscuits and gravy were great and the mini blueberry muffins are good. The pool area is mediocre but we had to ask a couple times for pool towels as it never had towels. They were busy so that was understandable. The staff are helpful but our check in and many things were frustrating. We booked a king size bed and pull out couch and did not get that room that we reserved. Due to medical needs, we would have preferred that setup but it wasn’t even offered despite us booking and paying far in advance. When we got to our room, there were many things we noticed. The shower curtain was ripped, the way it’s set up it doesn’t even close on either side. There’s a handicap bar in the shower but you constantly hit it with your arm/elbow. There is no fan in the bathroom so the amount of steam is absolutely stifling. You could hear some kind of dripping from above and the ceiling had been patched in terrible condition. The shower floor looks stained and is pretty gross. The toilet didn’t flush. My husband opened the back of the toilet up and connected the chain for the flush/adjusted it so it would flush. There was only 2 towels in the bathroom but when we booked we said 4 people. There was garbage behind the tv stand- like food wrappers. The plug ins were hit and miss in the room with what would work when plugging in chargers and medical devices. The night stand lamp didn’t work on one side for chargers."

"You can't get more convenient if you are in St. Louis to go to the Arch and it's associated activities. One of the nicest looking hotels on the interior I've been in. Spring for a room with a view, it's fantastic! Breakfast was phenomenal both days we were there."
