"The hotel was very clean including public places. The breakfast buffet was extensive and very good - an extra cost but worth it. Most staff were very friendly and helpful but came across one desk clerk that may have been having a bad day and was unfortunately very rude for no apparent reason - who knows. Otherwise I would have rated the hotel a perfect 5 out of 5. "

"The Shangri-La was amazing got our 3 night stay. The location is excellent, the hotel is beautiful and our room has a tremendous view of the Harbour. The staff were very friendly. There was a bit of construction noise during our spa treatments but everything else including our dine-in breakfast was perfect."

"This is a cheap hotel in a cute and otherwise expensive neighborhood. While I'm usually pretty laid back while budget traveling, and was expecting not the fanciest accommodation, my room had black mold in the shower (no exhaust fan), windows that don't open, bodily fluid stains on the comforter, and even a giant cockroach roommate. The common room balcony was filled with sad dead plants. Overall a bit depressing, but the bed was moderately comfortable. The "soundproofing" they mention is to the outside and from the pub below—you can still hear your hotel neighbors slamming their doors. The hotel rooms are above a pub that stays open till 6am, with gambling/slot machines and a steady stream of men drinking and watching sports. Good to know for women traveling alone. "

"On our 1st full day after checking in, we left and hanged the request for housekeeping sign on the door handle. When we returned, we found a stranger's pair of socks on our pillow! We called the reception requesting for a change of pillows and complained about what happened. The manager called after a few hrs, offering a change of room on a different floor but at this point, it was already late a night and we had an early day trip the nxt morning. The following evening, we received wine & chocolates, with a letter of apology (saw a previous review stating that they were given wine & chocolates upon check in) Aside from this, the tv was not working at all. It just showed a black screen when switched on. We asked the reception for help regarding this but they never came. Breakfast buffet was mediocre and we spotted a cockroach where the plates are placed. Very unhygenic! Staff at the Eve's bar were the only ones commendable. A below average hotel, definitely wont come back. It's a mystery how they got their 4-star rating. The only good point of this hotel is it's location."
