"We stayed at the Derwent, we had requested for rooms close but were put on completely different floors. The hotel is very dated and is overdue an upgrade. The rooms are tired looking. We found some of the staff a little aloof and not many smiles around on reception or in the bars. The amenities are good. The outdoor and indoor pools looked good. There are some quieter places to sit if you wished. We had a lovely couple of days in Torquay and the hotel is conveniently located. If we stayed again...

"All in all it is what you would expect from a three star hotel, nothing really awful and nothig really great. Most of the recption staff were friendly and helpful but unfortunately not all of them as one receptionist in particular made feel like a naughty school girl if I ever needed to ask her anything due to her curt and abrupt responses.
