Seikiro Ryokan Historical Museum Hotel

Seikiro Ryokan Historical Museum Hotel

8/10 Good
"This is a beautiful inn at which to stay. It was incredibly convenient for access to downtown Miyazu and was only a short walk from the train station. The meals were included in the affordable price and were unquestionably the highlight. The cooking was incredible and provided the opportunity to experience traditional Japanese cooking while saving money on dining. Although the bathroom facilities were dated (1960s or 1970s), the rooms were beautiful, traditional Japanese rooms. The futon sleeping can be difficult for foreign travelers who are unaccustomed to sleeping on tatami, but I would recommend staying here for at least one to two nights if you want to truly experience Japanese culture and hospitality."

"The cleanliness and quality of the room were impeccable, and I had no complaints in that regard. However, I feel there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of amenities provided. Only the basic essentials, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels, were available. Additional amenities like cotton pads and combs were not provided. The hotelโ€™s facilities were also quite limited, with no swimming pool or gym, and only two laundromat machines available. I had also mentioned that I was celebrating my birthday during my stay. While I appreciated the printed birthday card, I was expecting a little more from Marriott in terms of a special touch or gesture for the occasion."

"Second stay at this ryokan after a perfect stay last year. Location is perfect - on the willow-lined river street close to onsens. Quiet, comfortable rooms. Public and private onsen on site, excellent dinner served at the restaurant. Air conditioning wasnโ€™t cooling the room completely, but staff were accommodating with extra fans. Thank you Kaki for another wonderful stay."

Toyooka Sky Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Pretty impressed with their thoughtfulness and excellent service! Deposited my luggage with them before check in so I could go sightseeing. When I came back to check in, they told me they had already transported my luggage to my room! In addition, they offered me a hot towel and a choice of free welcome drink (you can choose from beer to soft drink or a snack). The breakfast is wonderful too! Piping hot miso soup based hotpot served with dishes made from local ingredients. Only drawback is it is a 10 min walk from Toyooka JR Station."

Kawaguchiya Kinosaki Riverside Hotel

8/10 Good
"The property was in a very convenient location and excellent staff and kaiseki breakfast and dinner. We were expecting a more modern and updated ryokan experience from the photos when we booked. Unfortunately the ryokan room that we booked was quite dated however the reviews with photos seemed to show a new and modern room. Saw another property with the same name, perhaps there are 2 different Kawaguchiya ryokan. "
