"The hotel is so welcoming. All staff are helpful and pleasant except for speaking English. The food is excellent, and the location was great. The view was I just want to bring it to my home. Overall, it was great staying."

"The room was clean and the staff very friendly. The kaiseki provided was very tasty and local, with staff who are knowledgeable about the food and the area. The indoor and outdoor onsen were comfortable and relaxing. We had a good time and enjoyed some very reasonably priced and tasty umeshu while there. Highly recommended!"

"Nicely decorated hotel and good customer service. Room was spacious. Food was tasty. Maybe it is me, food was on the salty side so I needed to add water. Very good location near the train station."

Enjoyable & comfortable stay at this small Ryokan hotel next to Gero station. Very convenient for visiting other tourist sites near Gero & Takayama. My second stay at this hotel. Good price & friendly service. As a small hotel, onsen is still not so crowded if one choose the non peak time for a soak. Gero has good alkaline onsen water with its silky feel... The town is large enough for enough activities, like shopping, sight seeing, walking, dining options, etc. a good place to experience...

The staff speak English or Mandarin hence communication was a breeze for me. They were very friendly, helpful and polite. The location of the ryokan is within walking distance to the town and close to the train station. Hotel provides a bus shuttle to the train station. From the train station to the hotel, there is also a complimentary ride. I had a very pleasant stay at the ryokan and highly recommend it.

Had a great time with warm gesture from the staff. Highly recommended for tourists who can’t speak Japanese as the manager, Ben is able to communicate via English & mandarin.

Hotel staffs are really friendly and helpful when we ask for some direction for our sightseeing even with their limit english.
They are able to arrange additional shuttle service on top of their schedule. It's a hotel for the family to spend time together but don't expect too much for this small little town hotel.
For thise onsen lovers, I will say they have very good view overseeing the whole Gero town. I will recommend you to go for a bath in the afternoon instead due to morning sun...

The staff are warm, helpful, clear in giving guidance. The breakfast was sumptuous. We had a family suite with two rooms. The only thing we wish it could be better is to have a shower room in the suite. However we enjoyed the public onsen bath, with a shower room. The place was spotless, authentically decorated, well-preserved Japanese culture and hospitality. Thank you!

Yatsusankan is located in Hidi Furukawa, a small quaint town about 30 min by local train to the north of Takayama. The town itself can be toured on foot in a couple of hours. The ryokan has a new and old wing. Guests can walk about in yukata within the ryokan and use the public onsens. There is also a private onsen at a small fee. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff speaks some English and are very helpful and polite. Breakfasts are served in private dining rooms. We had the Japanese...
