"Amazing location, beautiful rooms and grounds, so close to all that Hakone has to offer- with convenient pick up and drop off. Really helpful, especially when some weather changed our plans. "
"A really great family hotel in the heart of Hakone. It’s very clean, the staff are absolutely amazing and the kids can enjoy free access to Yunessun (the onsen water park next door).
We enjoyed the buffet food, unlimited ice cream, and all sorts of drinks and snacks peppered around the lobby floor. They just look after you very well here.
If you have kids, I definitely recommend staying here for a few days while exploring Hakone and enjoying the onsens. We will come back again. "
"Very lucky to have scored a reservation during our holiday stay in Japan. The hotel will organize ride from Gora Station to hotel. Though a short ride it is much appreciated with children and luggage. The private in room open air onsen is such a treat for families. Beautiful amenties - pool, gym and male/female onsens that swap gender in the middle of the night so if you stay longer than one night you can experience a different outdoor onsen view. The adults had a great in room massage. Kaseiki dinner and Japanese style breakfast was one of our best meals we had in Japan. Highly recommend and hope to return. "
"An Unforgettable Stay Defined by Grace, Care, and Thoughtful Hospitality
Our stay at Gora Kansuiro was truly exceptional and deeply memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were met with genuine warmth and attentiveness that made us feel not like guests, but like we were being welcomed into something sacred and intentional.
The hospitality was generous in every sense, but what stood out most was the extraordinary care given to our meals. Each dish felt thoughtfully curated, beautifully presented, and prepared with such sensitivity and precision. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, making the dining experience feel deeply personal rather than routine. It was clear that great pride is taken not only in the food itself, but in how it is shared.
The ryokan itself is serene, elegant, and grounding. Every detail, from the tatami rooms to the onsen experience, invites you to slow down, be present, and fully absorb the calm of Hakone. The balance of tradition, comfort, and quiet refinement is impeccable.
What we will remember most is the kindness—the feeling that every interaction was sincere, unhurried, and rooted in care. Gora Kansuiro is not just a place to stay; it is an experience of Japanese hospitality at its finest.
We are deeply grateful and hope to return one day."
