Great location, brilliant view and nice roof terra
I booked the Ramada Wyndham as a safe spot to stay, as I was arriving during the height of the protests and wanted somewhere secure with a good location to explore the city. It was very easy to find, being just a few minutes walk from the subway station, which you can reach direct from the airport after using the express train and transferring onto the underground. The decor was...interesting, with an alarming amount of gold panelling all over the walls and elevators. It's a little bit dated and makes you feel a bit like you're in a Trump Tower. Check in was speedy and they gave me a room on the top floor, meaning my views out onto the city were great. The room wasn't huge, but given the average size of Hong Kong hotels, it was fine for me. There were two single beds in the room, which they pushed together as soon as I checked in so that I had a double bed. The shower was hot and the pressure decent, which is number one for me, and they provided fresh towels every time the room was cleaned. This could probably stop as towels don't need changing that often, but it made you aware that they were indeed cleaning the place. One disappointing aspect was that there was no hand soap left by the sink. There was shower gel and shampoo, but no soap for washing your hands was a little odd. My biggest problem with the room was that there was a notable hum throughout the night, possibly from the boiler or generator. Once you were asleep it was fine, but with jet lag it was tricky t
