Kingsford Hotel Manila Bay

8/10 Good

"Stayed 2 nights at the hotel in a 2 twin-bed room for my mom and I (though I thought I had booked 2 double beds). The room size was just enough for 2 people with 2 medium and 2 small suitcases. Staff were wonderfully helpful when we needed a flat iron, when the A/C stopped for a bit while we were out, and when we asked for a porter for our luggage. The toilet in the room needed attention - the plumbing didn't work well, and the toilet paper was very thin, that we had to buy our own roll. It was an easy walk to Okada. Didn't try the pool, as it was overlooked by everyone with a view of it, and the sun was beating down by 8AM. We booked the free airport shuttle, but flight delays made us miss it. The best thing about our stay was the food - the breakfast buffet was excellent and some of the items in the menu changed each time. There is a posting of the best times to eat based on how busy it is, and they abide by the dress code (no room slippers, no bathing suits, no tank tops). The snack bar also served very tasty chicken salad sandwiches and Caesar salads."

10/10 Excellent

"The staff made you feel welcome. Checking in and out was fast. They do get busy though, so you might have to be patient. Buffet breakfast was good. There's both western and philippine breakfast. There's no airport shuttles, but you can order a grab. The room does have cable TV, fridge and a safe. The bed is comfortable. 2 glass waters provided. My only suggestion is they need to get rid of there old towels and get new ones. You can walk to the hotel from terminal 3. There's a bridge you can use so no need for a taxi. The casino is a 5 minute walk. There are plenty of restaurants close by too as well as Starbucks and a convenient store."

Dusit Thani Manila

8/10 Good

"First off, I previously reviewed this hotel but did not get the chance to talk about what I didn't like about this hotel. I thought Expedia's survey would have a box for likes and then one for dislikes, like other surveys, instead of one box for all; should have paid better attention. Anyway, the good: the location of this hotel is in a nice area of Metro Manila, in walking distance to a couple of Malls with money exchange options, one being the Greenbelt Mall, a bus depot, several massage places, one being a Thai Asian place about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel which was outstanding, a great breakfast, a variety of restaurants nearby, and friendly staff. The BAD: the check-in process was painfully slow, especially for travelers who have been traveling for hours; I mean it was inconvenient enough for me to reconsider staying at this hotel again! Management really needs to figure this issue out and find a more expedient, efficient process. I have stayed at lower end hotels in Pasay with a more efficient check-in process than the Dusit. And the advertised "free" parking is on a first come first serve basis, which they don't bother to mention until you leave the garage and return later to find the garage "full" and I reserved "4" rooms and only needed one parking space. They did allow us to use valet parking with no charge, but this inconvenience, due to some conference, was unacceptable! Therefore, I will likely seek other hotel options on my next trip."
