The hotel super old, rooms are super small, not correct shown detail. Shower water and bathroom sink not running properly, tv is smal as laptop, view is suck, they have a starbucks at the bar but dont even try(they dont even know whats half and half creamer) first and last stay, waisted,

One of the worst hotels we ever used. We had a very bad stay and terrible nights in this look-alike hotel. This is a scam hotel never 5 stars at all. We are a belgian couple and never in our hundreds of trips had such a thing. The rooms are very dirty, noisy, very old with broken window and broken bed. Torn paper paint and humidity on the walls. plus, bed sheets, towels and pillows have stains and dirty. some times even burnt. We changed room during the 6 night-stay. But nothing changed. We got sick of allergy because of dust and dirt. Add to that the staff in the reception are very arogant and are not helpful. Everyone in the bulding want to be tipped if you pass by them. Even the entrance of the hotel is so smelly. Escape from this place

Bad experience
It was very bad experience, the service was very disappointing with everything. We stayed there six nights, the staff there didn't changed the bed covers and pillows, the didn't clean up the room even i called the reception and ask about send someone to clean. They did not change the towels on a daily basis.

Average 3 star hotel close to metro
The room was large with very poor night time and bathroom lighting. During the day, the room was light filled and pleasant. Unfortunarely the cleanliness of the room was terrible. It had not been properly cleaned for a very long time. The cheap rug under the bed was so disgusting, i was happy slippers were provided. In my week long stay, my bed sheets were only changed on the fifth day. The kettle had caked on milk which had obviously not been checked. My booking included breakfast which was pleasant with a good selection of food. The hotel was a few minutes walk from the Metro system which is on the airport line. By changing at yusufpasa or arkasay you can jump on the tram line into the historical centre. I only stayed here because they had an outdoor pool which i ended up hardly using. Having stayed in Istanbul many times before, better hotels certainly exist for the same price. The hotel was full and the staff were very friendly and helpful however due to the lack of cleanliness i would not stay here again.

Hotel with great breakfast
The heating system was on and we visited in April. It was too warm. We complained many times, but they said air conditioning would not be turned on yet. They said open the window. Hotel is situated on main dual carriageway so it was very noisy even at night. Pool was out of order. This made our trip to Istanbul a bit of a disappointment because we did not get the comfort and rest we needed to enjoy our excursions. The breakfast was terrific.

Akgun Istanbul woes
When I arrived there was a group checking in, all staff were dedicating themselves to serving the group and disregarded myself. Then while checking in the agen would only conversate about MY booking with my colleague and at no point spoke to me directly about the booking I had made and I had paid for. Throughout the stay the room was never properly cleaned and at one point not cleaned at all despite leaving the sign out. The door usually got stuck and wouldn't lock or open properly.

Wi-fi was unable sometimes, or even if it works it was weak. Breakfast was good but everyday was the same. Beds are soft but not very bad. Lights was just on the wall. Not enough. Dirty windows, loud street noise disturb us. Maybe inner rooms don't. All in all it is 4 out 5.

definitely not a "5 star" hotel
I've never written a review before but here goes...I booked this hotel for 3 reasons: air-conditioning, free wi-fi, and a gym. I booked 3 nights. The first day the AC wasn't working so I called multiple times to get it checked. Next day, still not working so I spoke with a manager who assured us it would get checked. By the time I returned from the hotel that night, it still wasn't working. At that point I gave up. It's ok if there is a problem with the AC but the lack of concern/response was annoying. Also, the wifi in my room was going in and out the entire time, again I called to see if they could fix it, and nothing. Lastly, the gym is one bike that he said I had to use between 10-11 bc the room is also used for the spa or something. So if these 3 things matter to you like they did for me, I wouldn't count on them. Otherwise, hotel itself was clean and reasonable, buffet was clean and decent. Its a 10 minute walk to the tram, the immediate neighborhood has nothing, it's mainly roads. Not worth this place unless you get a really, really good deal.

3+ star Hotel - not 5 star
Terrible hotel. The lobby looks good but the carpet in the room is so dirty. The bathroom looks like from 1 star hotel. The towels is gray instead white. No swimming pool (it's open just at the summer time). No Wi-Fi (you can get so slow Wi-Fi just in the lobby. The breakfast is the same every day. No laundry room - there is a laundry service and you have to pay $11.00 for each. This is not 5 star hotel. Maybe 3+ If you are from USA you will be so frustrated by this "5 star" hotel and high price. Do not try to ask or complain about Wi-Fi, nobody can help you.

Our swimming pool is in the annual maintenance and it’s open swimming pool for this reason the pool can be opened in summer season. 4 and 5 stars hotels haven’t got laundry room in Turkey and Europe Our wi-fi system is working properly.If this problem was caused by us, it might be fixed. That they nobody complained about our wi-fi, but incident like this can be normal because sometimes the devices can not connect although our router working. We are very sorry about this situation. Avoid this hotel!!
I travel a lot and in my opinion avoid this hotel if you can. It really is not 5* quality. My issue was with service that they seriously lack and they don't appear to care about customer complaints. Location is also not great you're basically opposite dual carriageway!

Great location, great pool, nice hotel overall.
The room we stayed at was very roomy and quiet which we liked a lot. It had a view to the pool and the city. We were greeted by the complimentary fruit basket on the first day of our stay, the bed was comfy, room had a table and ample room to kick back. I actually wished we had stayed our whole time here. It is close to the tram stop so moving back and forth from sights was really easy. The tub had a few spots of black mold around the seams but the room was clean other than that, the floor's lobby was a little dull, but I think the decor was meant to be old fashioned so that was ok. The breakfast buffet was not up to par to other hotels we had visited in Turkey, and that is not good since they served the same stuff every day. The service was excellent.

We thought we had booked a 5 star and a hotel which was very popular. However our experience was disappointing. The hotel did not have any ironing boards and recommend we give our clothes to the laundry which was prohibitively expensive. We had paid for a triple room but were cramped into a room which was very small. They would give 2 towels and for 5 days that we stayed we had to call the reception for towels and soap. Housekeeping is non existent as they never pick up the phone. Asked for a late check out on the last day (4 pm instead of 12 noon) and they told us that the hotel was fully booked. However if we paid a half day charge it would be possible. Ridiculous taking into consideration that we spent 5 nights there. And what took the cake was the charge for water. They gave us 2 bottles of water for 3 people. One kept with the tea and coffee and the other in the fridge. Both exactly the same but the one in the fridge cold. We were expected to have some divine knowledge to realize that the one in the fridge is chargeable while the one outside is free. And the air conditioning in the room was so bad it felt that the hotel was trying saving pennies wherever they could. Please don't get conned by this hotel.

Unexpected Experience
We were greatly disappointed with this hotel. It was definitely not up to the five - star hotel status. We had reserved a suite, and were surprised that the actual room was not up to par with the photos on the internet. However, we were pleased with the kind and accommodating staff. Overall, I would rate this hotel a 3.

It was a terrible experience at Akgun Hotel. There is much bad to write about this hotel. Front Office quality related to service and solutions: - They don't speak English. - They have poor eye contact and show extremely little service. While I am talking to them, they are working and do not make eye contact. - They lack honesty. (They said the boss wasn't at work and after a while he was at work) - When I call the Front Office and ask them for a service, they take an extremely long time to perform the service. Housekeeping quality: - They only speak Turkish. Impossible to understand each other. - Every single day I have to repeat my needs in the room. It is extremely bad. - They don't wear gloves when they clean the room. I noticed that they use their hands in the toilet, the garbage and the beds without washing their hands. This is extremely disgusting and transfers a lot of bacteria onto the beds after washing the toilet, for example. I told them to wear gloves. But the worst thing is that they forget it the next day. Then every single day I had to repeat myself and teach them how to wash the room properly. - and much more. Room quality: - Poor air quality. - A lot of dust in the room. - Found dark spots on the walls. - There were yellow and red stains on the duvet. It looked like dried blood and the like that had dried before. - The hair dryer switch was broken. - There were white stains on the sofa. - There were some places on the duvet cover that were torn.
