"We booked the king bed room and it was great- spacious, clean, stylish. The location was great, also,right in the middle of the pedestrian area with shopping and restaurants all around us, and all our sightseeing trips within walking distance. Staff was great. Just a few negatives- we booked, partially, due to the rooftop bar and lower level bar, only to find out they are both closed on Mondays, our only full day there. This wasn't evident when we booked. Also, we are coffee drinkers who like a cup first thing in the morning before we leave the hotel, and again in the evening before we head out for dinner. There are no in room coffee makers, and the only coffee available was in the lounge from 7-11am. Also no ice machines. They do offer water stations on each floor. The last issue is lack of on-site parking and restricted access to hotel lobby vehicle drop off due to pedestrian zone. We did plan for this, and turned in our rental car when we got into town, and were able to walk to train station with luggage with no issues. All in all we enjoyed our stay, great location and staff. "

"Hawthorne Hotel was warm and welcoming! We loved the atmosphere and strongly enjoyed all the amenities. We really enjoyed Sophie at the front desk for being a great person! We also enjoyed Matt the server who works The Tavern and Hawthorne restaurant! Excellent team members."

"We had the Canton room, which we found out does not have parking right outside so we had to park on the street, the parking was terrible. When we got in the room they left a used lotion, batteries low for the TV remote, and we had to wait for someone to come up to give us more toiletries and batteries. (There is no one who stays on site for room service). We went to the back to see the courtyard and it looked unkempt; leaves everywhere, outside patio furniture was covered in moss, and looked very unwelcoming. Also note if you stay in the Canton that you can hear EVERYONE below you clearly. I think the insulation is just bad because its an older house but I think it is something you should know before you book. The breakfast was bad, with fruit thay looked like it had been out for awhile and some pre purchased breakfast bagels and pastries. I was very disappointed with the overall experience and hope they improve. Love the history but the place was not worth it."

"Location was good. House was from the 1900. There was charm to it, but doors were literally were falling off hinges. This property could use a face lift. Rugs were nailed to older carpet. Very spacious and stocked with kitchen items. There was a mouse in the kitchen. I understand sometimes it’s out of the owners control. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I would not stay at this property again, especially since they “double” charged me for the stay. It took days and multiple attempts to connect with anyone, even hotels.com struggled to reach the property. They did refund the money they should have NEVER charged, just wish I didn’t have to go through the hassle. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, I just want to be honest so that fellow travelers can make an educated decision on whether or not they’d like to stay at this property. "
