Old school, old fashioned (read: dated decor, manual check-outs, actual keys for your room), traditional spa resort. The mixed onsen is great, lots of space and different temperatures so you can easily find your perfect spot. Definitely go half board as the evening buffet is excellent. Highly recommended.

The onsens are great.. The buffet was expensive and a little funky. Needs more labor, lots of tables went un-bussed. The carpets are old and a little smelly in the hotel. But, overall a reasonable stay and a decent price.

Perfect getaway
Lovely hotel! While the hotel itself it a little outdated, the staff are incredibly friendly (and know English, which was good for us!). The best part is the onsen, which is quite large and does mixed bathing (they provide you with swim costumes). You are in a great location to get to the ropeway (3 minutes walking), or to go down to the kogen onsen and the brown bear center (1 hour by car). The gorge and waterfalls are also nearby. The buffet was also quiet expansive. It’s not great for vegetarians, but I never came away hungry. My partner, who eats meat, was delighted by the crab - crab in most of the food items, and also crab legs.

Great onsen but old hotel room
The hotel rooms are quite old and not comfortable bedding. But the open air mixed onsen pays it all! Must do the open air onsen.

I like outdoor onsen with hotel suit and view from room. But the shower and dinner menu should be improved. Hotel should provide shuttle bus from/to Kamikawa Station.

Worst Ryokan ever
The hotel is currently under renovation and hotel is covered by scaffoldings. Booked the river view room but was completely blocked. However we were not informed during check in or any time during the booking. Called the helpline but obviously there was nothing done. Buffet food was horrid, like serving a zoo of people. Worse dinner in our entire trip. Ryokans are always famous for their dinner but this one is truly disappointing and disgusting. Every evening, bus loads of Chinese, Taiwan and Hongkong tourists would check in and onsen is always noisy and crowded. Not worth going to this hotel, nothing spectacular or anything worth raving about. It probably has 3 stars rating because it has random people rating it 5 stars with no reviews. Read all the ratings carefully before u book. It’s really really horrid.

Rustic Sounkyo Kanko hotel
The place is clean but a bit old. Staff friendliness is just so so. The place is quite remote but the onsen is nice. The dinner and breakfast buffet are just so so.

My family had a Very good onsen experience for indoor n outdoor . If the hotel would provide free shuttle to n fro from the station during winter will be better .

Mixed outdoor hot spring pool
The onsen is amazing, especially the outdoor mixed pool with spectacular view. It is interesting to experience mixed hot spring pool. Don't worry, hot spring clothes will be provided to enter that pool. The location and cleanliness are good. short walking distance to the ropeway. However, food can be improved still, though it is not bad.

The stay was not bad: the dinner variety was huge, and the outdoor onsen was a very interesting experience. However, the room was a little small for 4 people, and the location is really inaccessible unless you have a personal means of transport.

Ok for one night
This was a hotel I liked least in my holiday. We arrived at the hotel in our car wondering if we were at the right hotel and someone came to great us which was nice. He waited for us to get our bags but did not offer to help which I found odd. Then there were like 8-9 staff just standing by the door chatting who greeted us but once again, no help was offered which seems so odd when my husband and I were carrying 2-3 bags each. The room was a traditional Japanese room which was fine and I had no complaints. The dining room was quite a disaster - felt like a canteen with terrible lighting and hordes of packaged tour bus guests. Food was average. I would recommend just take the room and not bother with food at this hotel.

Good hotel. Clean, spacious. Adequate buffet.
A good choice in the selection available on the east side of Daizetsusan. I suggest avoiding the dinner meal if you want something better, as the buffet, while adequate, lacks that special feeling you get when eating out in Japan. Certainly, do not go right when dinner opens, at 6, since it can be a bit of a zoo.

Pleasant jumping off point to explore area
Popular resort for summer and fall viewing of mountain flowers and turning leaves. Hotel caters to tour groups and individual families. Excellent dinner buffet and good breakfast buffet. Lovely outdoor onsen.

Location okay, but wouldn't recommend
Very uncomfortable beds with pillows made of polystyrene beads and bedspreads so might not be changed each time. No non-smoking floors so everywhere smelt slightly smoky. Food was ok if not usually hot enough and very little English signage. Staff very friendly and helpful but not much English spoken. Location fine within short walk of ropeway.

Hotel recommended for leisure stay
Excellent meals and transport provided by hotel. Hotel is less than 10 mins walk from the cable-car ropeway boarding point. Staff provided useful information on sightseeing locations. But need to pay for the outdoor onsen.

Paying for an onsen hotel, it turned up to be...
This is a tourist group hotel. Breakfast and dinner were held in the banquet hall together with groups of tourists. The onsen is too small too hold these groups of people, noisy and packed. If you are looking for proper Japanese In-Room setting dinner and peaceful onsen stay, this is not the place.

Relaxing - loved our tatami room
Very restful after a hectic travel schedule. Husband and son loved the onsen. I loved the furo. Spacious, more like home and less like a hotel room. Small lanai where you can sit, sip hot tea and peacefully watch the stream flow by. It's amazing how a clean and uncluttered environment puts you at ease. When you come back from dining, your bedding is laid out. Come back from the day's outing, and the bedding is put away and the room is tidied.

部屋の暖房が入って無く、暖かくなるまで、時間がかかった。部屋の掃除が丁寧でなく、前の宿泊者の使ったゴミが洗面所に残っていた。夕食がインバウンドと国内旅行者で差がつけられていて、余り食べる物が少なかった。大浴場に繋がる廊下が非常に寒く残念だった。

フロントスタッフは外国の方でしたが日本語上手で対応も良かったです。古い建物ですが部屋のお風呂もすごく良く、大浴場も老朽化はありますが温泉良かったです！ バイキングも全体的にすごく美味しくて満足でした！ ただ、売店の品数の少なさにびっくりしました。お土産で悩む事も無い少なさ（笑） 近くにコンビニもありますが生理用品なども置いて欲しいなと… 後、朝の清掃業者の方が私の階のエレベーター降りてすぐの客が休む椅子に２人座ってくっちゃべっていて愛想も悪く　不快でした。 それ以外は満足でした！

層雲峽觀光酒店 價錢合理 位置容易找 距離 層雲峽 巴士站10至15分鐘路程 吊車站就在巴士站附近 buffet一般 自助餐 溫泉很好 很純正硫磺 戶外有男女共浴池 提供浴衣 附近都有好多溫泉酒店 這間比較便宜一點 一家大小 戶外 共用浴池 環境舒適
