It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Das Hotel war eine perfekte Wahl für unseren Aufenthalt in Kandy! Etwas außerhalb des Trubels der Stadt gelegen, daher relativ ruhig, aber gut erreichbar, 20 Minuten zu Fuß zum Zahntempel oder mit den immer verfügbaren und günstigen Tuk Tuks in 10 Minuten mitten im Zentrum. Das Hotel ist neu, alles sehr sauber, alles funktioniert. Unser Zimmer war geräumig, das Kingsize Bett perfekt, das Bad moderner westlicher Standard. Das Frühstück, eine Mischung aus Sri Lanka Küche und international, war sehr gut, aufgrund der geringen Auslastung des Hotels zu Weihnachten nicht sehr umfangreich, aber mehr als ausreichend. Das Service ist wunderbar, alle sind äußerst freundlich und bemüht. Es vergeht kein Tag ohne dass man vom jungen Hotelmanager nach seinem Befinden und ev. Wünschen gefragt wird. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist perfekt, das beste Hotel, das wir in Sri Lanka hatten!
