Very nice property and would certainly stay there again. A couple of notes. The carpeting in our room was getting old - number of small stains - nothing critical but for the standard the hotel portrays, it should be better. The morning rooster - every morning! Both the breakfast and dinner buffet were extensive, however the food quality was a bit below what one would expect from a higher end hotel. Food was good, but needed that extra oomph to bring it to a higher level.

Online it looked great. In reality, hotel was noisy and uncomfortable, restaurant service slow and mediocre food, staff tried hard and were friendly but the service was very poor. Everything from requesting a hair dryer to a to go coffee cup was answered by a No can’t do. Disappointing.

I enjoyed my stay at the Golden Crown. I was only there one night, but it was the perfect place to rest after a busy day of sightseeing. My room was clean and spacious. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, and has these high windows in the lobby that makes you feel like you're in the middle of the jungle (you are!). The food was very good and service attentive. I would stay here again.

Beautiful all round! Would stay here again.
Beautiful hotel! Tranquil location (away from city centre), wonderful views from the room and restaurant/pool. Dinner/breakfast buffets we’re delicious and service was top. Room was spacious and bed super duper comfy, woken up by monkeys on the balcony which was noisy but cute. (Keep the doors closed). Staff were fantastic. Would recommend!

Fabulous Hotel
A palatial hotel, with awesome staff and delicious food! We were welcomed with Kandyan drummers and delicious fruit juice to quench our thirst. Then we were shown to our room, a junior suite,750 sq. ft of luxury! The infinity pool is beautiful and sitting outside by the bar with the breeze blowing was heavenly! Ravi at the restaurant was very helpful and attended to all our needs.

Its comfortable beautiful setting . Restaurant is superb wiith the pool and good music. Road to the hotel is really bad. The room is not sound proof. Woken up around 1am with people talking aloud. The bathroom wash basin is too high and hard to reach for people who are under 5 .1 feet tall.

Good property. Lobby is great, pool is wonderful and the buffet restaurant is also good. Our room had a nice view of the mountains and was on the 4th floor. 1st night was noisy as there was a party going on the 5th floor. Water flow in the sink was very slow all through our stay. We didn’t though complain about it. The property is some distance from Kandy lake.

We were welcomed at the entrance by Saranwya and her colleague. We were offered some juice which was refreshing after our long journey. They were both so friendly and walked us all the way to our rooms with smiles on their faces and reassuring us if there’s anything we need, just to ask. We walked out of the hotel with only positive words to speak of the amazing and hardworking staff. They made it a memorable stay for us ! From the doormen to the restaurant staff ; all were very hospitable and quick to respond. The manager was so very thoughtful asking about how my moms knees are and giving us water as we waited to leave. The buffet was okay I’m not sure about how fresh the food is as my sister and I got really sick our last night . Vomiting , fever and to the bathroom. We fell so ill, we had to request a late checkout & delay our next destination. We are still not feeling well. There was a big pizza like bread that looked rotten to me but a person there said it was cheese (it was fuzzy and had fungus) thankfully, it was removed. All in all, I can highly recommend staying here but do not recommend the food.

Ultra luxurious hotel with warm thoughtful service
We stayed here when we came on a family vacation in Sri Lanka. This hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The hotel is ultra luxurious, with a thoughtful touches in every nook and corner. There is a 2 person jacuzzi in the bathroom. Very beautiful and huge rooms. Very lavish buffet with great food. Even when we left, the hotel packed a small bag with refreshments for the journey ahead.

Excellent hotel, Nicely appointed rooms, great restaurant. The only opportunity to improve is the flow and water temperature. We had a tub with jets but could not use it because the water temperature was not hot enough and the tub could not even be filled due to low water force. The water was barely warm and uncomfortable for shower.

Disappointing
We stayed at The Golden Crown for 1 night. The hotel lobby is grand and impressive, however the rooms are ordinary. We got upgraded to a suite as no other rooms were available when we checked in. The room was very spacious and clean. In the bathroom the door is very close to the toilet although there is a lot of space further in. The balcony is small and the furniture takes up most of the space, however the view is great as we were at canopy level. The air conditioning did not work properly and it got quite hot in the night. We had dinner and breakfast and the food quality is mediocre. On our way to breakfast the far corridor had 3 mattresses piled against the wall and it was quite an unattractive sight. The service room door was often open and again not a pleasant view. The staff are friendly. The hotel did not live up to the 5* standard that is expected of a 5* hotel and for the price we paid.

Nice spacious rooms
The hotels first impression is excellent, a beautiful grand reception with traditional music being played to welcome you. The rooms are extremely spacious. The bed was too hard for my liking. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Only one restaurant was a negative. It was a huge buffet with lots of choice but the food was Luke warm.

Disappointing hotel of dying grandeur
Despite supposed renovation, this is a very tired old hotel with dying grandeur. Staff are very attentive but the furnishings and style are very out of date and run down. Caters to large touring groups principally from China and Korea seemingly. Decor depressing, towels in bathroom rather thin and old, air con couldn't be regulated so room was freezing, walls paper thin so you could hear everything in the next door rooms, breakfast mediocre. We struggled to find a decent hotel in Kandy to book and this does seem one of the better ones however. Some boutique hotels only accept you for minimum 2 nights. Hopefully, investment in the city will come through in time.

Beautiful property. We stayed 2 nights and our room and balcony were great. Hotel staff was lovely. Only recommendation would be that my friend and I enjoy wine and every time we tried ordering a bottle at the restaurant or room service it ended up taking awhile and no one seemed to know what was on the wine menu. Overall was a great hotel and I would stay here again.
