Lemon Tree, Kumarakom hotels

We picked this hotel after reading reviews here on expedia and other sites. A definite pull factor for us was the fact that the resort started operating recently. As we had hoped for, the hotel was clean, picturesque (100% true to the pictures shared here), had all modern facilities yet had a traditional and cosy atmosphere. Nice hotel but not so good location - it is not quite in Kumarakom or Alleppey per se and took us a bit of time to find. The room is lovely and the staff attentive, we liked the cold water, and the food tasty. However, we felt the breakfast is really small compared to the other cheaper homestays we were at, with no option of Indian breakfast. We booked the heritage room and it was beautiful and spacious with really high ceilings! Also, our room has 2 bathrooms, though i suspect that not all the rooms has that. Wonderfully attentive staff, always willing to go out of their way to organise birding trips and village walks for us, despite the fact that there are only 2 of us! Extremely friendly staff who greets you each time they sees you. And they are very accomodating, helping me to book taxis and tuk tuk for my excursions around the area. The rooms are big and clean, very value for money. However, I would love to have them renting out bicycles for people to cycle out of the compound instead of just within the resort.
