The overall experience is nice and the room was comfortable. A complimentary bottle of water would have been appreciated. I expected at least a boiler in the room , there wasnt. They want us to really go to their restaurant for everything. The loby is quite small and the restaurant takes the whole of the space. So it was more a hotel for sleeping

Super cool vibe in the hotel. Although the room was fairly small, that is what we ordered. EXCELLENT food (dinner and breakfast). Everyone was so nice and helpful. No question we would stay there again.

Quirky and comfortable hotel about 20 min walk from old town. Chargeable parking in underground car park accessed from back road. Comic masks in rooms. Enjoyed outside eating and cocktails in bar whilst watching world cup rugby. Pricier than expected but good

Hotel decor and size was lovely. Room was great, quiet with a comfy bed. However disappointed that the staff at the hotel were quite rude and not friendly - I asked for a coffee in the morning and they tried to charge me for the full breakfast! That being said it was a nice hotel and a great location in Lyon.

Stylish rooms, reception and bar/restaurant - very friendly staff. Bathrooms have shampoo bar and cardboard packaging and plan to go plastic free in future which is good. Restaurant can do great vegan dishes but strangely nothing on the menu. Something they need to change so that there is more choice of healthy options. It wouldn’t cost them anything as any good kitchen has fresh fruit and vegetables.

A bit disappointing
I'd stayed at other Mama Shelters before and this one was a bit disappointing. The Medium Mama room was quite small with very basic decor in the room itself. The bathroom in particular was basically what you would get at an Ibis. The hotel itself was in a bit of weird location and it basically seemed like an Ibis with some text drawn on the mirrors. Staff were great though, which is a pretty consistent trait of Mama Shelters.

Good hotel with lively bar and restaurant. Rooms functional. Parking in underground garage. Located in quiet area. 30 mins walk to city centre or public transport available.

Great funky hotel
Great funky hotel near the centre of Lyon. The room was smallish but had all the necessary amenities, all designed to a funky high end standard. The bar downstairs was great and had a great vibe, I recommend stopping there for a drink. Breakfast was a nice surprise as it had a great selection of food. All in all a great stay and would recommend, this hotel feels above the rated 2 star!

Great funky hotel near the centre of Lyon. The room was small but had all the necessary amenities, all in top condition. The bar downstairs is very nice and there is a great vibe at night, highly recommend to stop there for a drink. The breakfast was a nice surprise as well, great selection of tasty food. This doesn't feel like a 2 star hotel at all! Would stay again.

Great hotel - great stay
Quite a hip and trendy hotel with a good feel and nice decorations. Super friendly staff that were very helpful. Nice breakfast buffet selection (served by staff).

Overnight in Mama Shelter, Lyon
Nice room with a few extras - face masks included! Very lively bar and restaurant. We ate at the bar and listened to the DJ. Food fine. Big breakfast/brunch scene in the morning with ample choice. Hotel located in residential area about 20 min stroll from town. Public transport nearby. Hotel has parking underneath which we weren’t aware of until after check-in. Otherwise parking virtually impossible - seems to be lots of cars and little public parking in the area. Overall good choice for a night or two in Lyon.

Nice Stay
Nice, quirky, clean & modern place to stay in Lyon. I have visited several Mama Shelters and they hold to the same standards. The Lyon Location is a bit away from the popular areas, but it’s convenient if you have to park your car and the neighborhood is quiet at night for sleeping. Good Points: -Staff is polite and helpful -Beds are very comfortable -Rooms are very clean Negative Points: -The “kitchenette” setup in the rooms is pretty useless. A sink and a microwave, but what for? I would strongly suggest installing a fridge and a coffee maker/kettle or offering room service. Otherwise you have to leave the room/hotel to find coffee in the morning. -We attempted to take a coffee and continental breakfast on 2 mornings, but the cappuccino machine was broken, so no possibility for a milk coffee. Surprised there was no alternative during an entire weekend in a hotel of this size. Otherwise, a nice, quirky, modern and very clean place to stay.

Should be a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Beautiful modern hotel.5 minute walk to train/trolley station. Lots of good pastries and eateries close by. Very safe, you need a room key to access the elevator. Also has 24hr security.

A convenient location and friendly staff but missing some things for the price. The breakfast could be considerably improved, a bedside light would be good, room temperature difficult to sort and was therefore too hot or cold and the busy bar/restaurant lacked a slightly quieter space.

A perfect stay for the weekend in Lyon
I didn't know what to expect with this hotel as i am a sucker for loyalty towards brands. I was amazed with everything during my staff, friendly check-in agent. room is clean and up to date with tech. Great selection of movies to watch. A retro breakfast place with good options for a French hotel. I would recommend and stay here again. One this to improve would be to place a signage on the building as it is difficult to identify the hotel

Great little find
This is a great quirky little find outside of central Lyon. The staff were some the best I've ever experienced in hotels, they were exceedingly freidnly and helpful. Even the security guard on the door was so polite. This is a great middle point between the main train station in Lyon and central island of Lyon. We walked every day from the hotel and enjoyed it. The bar was great and the staff/decor were tip top.

A really funky hotel, some way from the city centre. Design focussed and trendy, but lacking a few basics - no drawers at all to put clothes, no tissues in the room... In quite a nice part of Lyon but quite far from the main tourist attractions. Air conditioning did not work well.

Good and bad
The hotel was both good and bad for a number of reasons. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean and spacious. However the breakfast was 39 euros a person which was 2 to 3 times more than any other hotel we stayed at in France or Europe. We couldn't justify a breakfast at that price so we did not try it. The attached restaurant is also a popular hangout which meant when we came back from dinner Saturday the 2 bouncers were giving us a hassle while we were trying to get into the hotel. The minibar is not a fridge but rather a tiny vending machine. There is no ability to cool your own stuff.

Great option for a weekend in Lyon
We always stay at Mama when we go to Lyon, it's a great and very affordable option. It's a bit away from the center but there are some cafes nearby, and public transportation/uber are easy to catch. The restaurant and amenities are really good
