The Wave Manhattan Beach

"It was a really good sized room and nice to have a fridge. I found the bed to be fairly comfortable but a bit noisy because it was mostly metal. That could be good in case bedbugs try to set up shop, though. There was easy, inexpensive public transit to LAX, nearby food stores and restaurants, and a nice walk to the beach and Strand. The room design looked quite nice but it could be planned better to avoid mildew from growing. The bathroom had some on the molding next to the shower. It smelled quite a bit so I felt compelled to keep the bathroom door closed with the fan on. An easy fix would be to replace the trim, apply Zinsser, and use silicon seal around the edges. The shower curtain should be weighted so that it doesn’t get blown outside of the ledge, which allows water to wick into the trim. Also, the sink should have a faucet that aligns with the drain hole. There is low water pressure, and it is impossible to use without getting water everywhere because it splashes on the inner rim of the drain and barely clears the edge of the sink. Little annoyances that will cause continued mold problems."

"As regulars to the Queen Mary Hotel, we find Elle, the front desk person who signed us in, to be thoughtful, efficient, and kind. Diosdado (aka, Dado), our waiter at the Promenade Cafe, is likewise consistently helpful and attentive. Our bedding was comfortable. When we requested a second chair, it arrive within a few minutes. Likewise, a second set of towels arrived quickly, within ten minutes of our request. It's lovely to stroll around the property at the Queen Mary, both the inside promenade and the outside decks. The Queen Mary is a gem of a property with historic old world charm and a gracious and caring staff. Well done Queen Mary Staff."
