"I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to The Railway
at Westerfield.
Great location with easy access to trains and a large car park on site.
The staff are great also, plus wonderful food.
Much to like about the Railway Inn. "
"Comfortable stay at this quirky pub. Rooms comfortable but need updating. Lovely meal when we arrived early evening and a good breakfast was served. Definitely worth a visit "
"A frequent comment I have is that a double room is not provided with 2 chairs. Our room was compact, similarly the bathroom. We could unpack, a positive to me. When staying a few nights, I do not want to live out of a suitcase. Lack of towel rails to hang used towels to dry."
"Absolutely gorgeous stay! Would definitely return and recommend to others. Would just like to see more option on the menu in the barn. A pasta and/or steak dish would be great. "

The Kingscliff Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed two nights for the 2025 Clacton airshow. The hotel has good (free for guests) parking and is about a 30 minute walk to Clacton pier. Alternatively buses run along the front. We stayed in room 20 which had a Sea view on the second floor (note there are no lifts). The room was clean and tidy with cofee and tea making facilities and a TV (no fridge), also free (good) WI-FI. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and the bar was nice, well stocked and amply staffed. The bar area was nice to relax in with tables and stools and comfy chairs and setees. The restaurant was nice (best to book on arrival as it does get filled up quickly). We eat both evenings and the restaurant manager "Joshua" was very polite and attentive. Food was good and reasonably priced (note there is a discretionary12.5% service charge). We also had breakfast which was nice. I had full English but eggs and kippers plus a continental selection are available. We would definately stay there again."
"Comfortable spacious rooms with large double bed. Everything for an overnight stay, coffee on the terrace, good evening meal in the restaurant and a lovely pre-breakfast swim in quite a large swimming pool with sauna and jacuzzi available.
Overall an enjoyable and restful stay with friendly staff.."
"Yet another lovely stay.Good to see the new owners renovating and upgrading the hotel.
The installation of a new accessible toilet is very good to see.
It would be nice to see some re-cycling facilities, rather than all rubbish going in the same bins in rooms."
"Room was clean, tidy, functional and had sufficient features. The balcony was a great addition. The view over the town was super. It overlooks the street so accept there will be town noise on a Friday./Saturday night. Does mean it is superbly situated for city exploits.
Only negative was parking. It was a busy weekend and the assigned car-park had only once space."
"Lovely old property, lots of character and charm.
Staff are friendly and welcoming, some I feel are under pressure from senior management,
It feels like they are short staffed.
Which adds pressure to the rest. But they cope with a smile. Be nice to see more staff which would definitely increase the customer experience and enjoyment.
Word of mouth is the biggest compliment to any business.
Thank you to all the staff on the front line."
