Very clean, convenient to the JR station (5-10 minute walk). The rooftop onsen is nice as well! The staff is very helpful!

The property is a bit dated but the staff is first rate. Front desk crew is very accommodating. The kitchen team incorporated many local dishes in a delicious breakfast spread.

Nice Hotel
The Dormy Inns have been a nice hotel chain to stay. This one was nice as well. One thing is the shower cord did not allow the head to stay in the forward postion. Other than that, nice stay.

I will be a loyal customer of Dormy Inn. It is so affordable with a nice onsen, and the extra courtesy extended by things like the evening ramen are so nice. I always have happy experiences at Dormy Inn.

The Dormy Inn welcomed us during the COVID crisis. The hotel was so clean, and all the staff were wonderful. The central location meant we could walk to shops and the train station. The onsen was really lovely, and the beds were very comfortable. Use of the microwave was a lifesaver for us on a budget and trying to limit social contact.

Everything was excellent except, for the first time, the breakfast was a major disappointment. Most of the food that should have been warm was ice cold. There were over ten omelets at room temperature. The fried potatoes were cold but the server "heated up" the potatoes and turned on the hot plate however the potatoes were still room temperature. I could make a long list of the room temperature food that should have been HOT. The servers were not at all friendly and never greeted new guests. The Niigata Dormy Inn breakfast and servers is totally foreign to the Dormy Inn concept. I would again stay at the Niigata Dormy Inn but there is no way in heck I would buy their breakfast. I would got to Famima, Seven Eleven, or Lawson.

Checkin was smooth and easy, staff spoke good English and she was also able to recommend places to eat etc. While the room was smaller than I anticipated but it was good value for the price partly due to the onsen and the free ramen for supper. Free coffee is only served in the morning. Big plus is the free shuttle to and from the Niigata Station. The massage service on the 10th floor was also excellent and removed the tiredness of my trip

***** 5 STARS hotel with very reasonable price
Nice onsen for the MEN & a smaller one for the ladies. Free coffee at the entrance & free ramen from 2130-2300hrs WiFi was hopelessly not connecting but after telling the reception staff about the problem he immediately gave us a router then WIFI worked perfectly within my room. Overall was a wonderful stay. Highly recommend

I have enjoyed staying in the dormy inn. Hot spring was available 24 hours. Rotenburo was at the roof top.

First time to Niigata and first time with Dormy inn. I read about the free ramen and I was expecting to be given a cup noodles but it was a fresh bowl of noodles! Walking proximity to Niigata station, nice friendly staff and clean onsen. Shuttle bus is only available after 3pm if I am not wrong. So if you have lots to carry, a taxi ride will not cost much

I would have given this hotel a higher rating but my expedia booking claimed free WIFI in public areas and in the room while my experience was the internet was almost unusable, Quite often, after being logged onto the network for a few minutes, it would drop the connection and I would have to try again, in some cases multiple tries were needed to connect. This was my experience in the room as well as the lobby.

Very enjoyable stay and roof-top onsen (for men).
Had an enjoyable stay for 2 nights. Highlights include free noodles at night (standard practice for Dormy) and roof top onsen for males with nice rock feature and sauna. Separate onsen for ladies on lower floor. Laundry is free and tumble dryer cost is 100¥/20 mins. Whilst massage in Japan is generally expensive, the rate here is 5,500¥ + tax for 60 mins. The massage therapists provide a firm and thorough technique. For a tired traveller, a hot soak followed by massage is worthwhile. Make sure to book massage early. Breakfast buffet is extensive and exceptional, offering a good range of (mostly) Japanese and (some) western dishes. Free bus shuttle to/from train station are available and most staff speak English quite well. JR Niigata station is 10-15 mins walk, relatively easy to find. Highlight at Niigata station is the Ponshukan selling a range of food/drink with extensive sake sampling in back room (500¥ provides 5 tokens ie one sample per token. The day pass city loop bus (500¥) also includes one free sake tasting token at the Ponshukan (I was given 2 tokens). JR Echigo-Yuzawa station also features a similar Ponshukan as well as sake hot bath (800¥ for bath/200¥ for towel and 100¥ for locker). Main difference is that Echigo-Yuzawa has a larger range of sake to taste including ume (plume wine) and shochu, as well as descriptions in English. The Ponshukan in Niigata has Japanese menu only but still fun to sample from across the prefecture.

This Dormy Inn has a very nice rooftop onsen and a small but pleasant breakfast (+free noodle) area. It has an okay location on a busy street near but not immediately near the train station. There is a free shuttle during peak hours. Wi-fi was very poor. Not only was the signal too weak to get a consistent signal for a room near the elevator, it would drop and be almost impossible to reconnect to. Perhaps my device was the culprit. It has a tall atrium, which is a pleasant design feature, but that means it can be noisy when people come in after a day's work. My room was quite expensive compared to Dormy Inns in other cities, yet it was not as nice in some ways.

The price was decent for the location. I was happy with the hotel. I ended up arriving early by a couple hours and they made me sit and wait for the check in time at 3. That was fine. I got complimentary breakfast unfortunately slept in. The onsen looked nice but didn't go in. Only complaint the maids were very noisy in the morning, I was tired so I slept in. My last day check out was at 11. One maid walked in before 10 to clean the room.

Solid Choice
My first time there, great hotel. Not so close to the station, but an excellent bath and sauna with full amenities. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend. Room was average size, very clean, and comfortable.

Good ratio Price/Quality
Hotel is well located, close to many restaurants and bars, as well as the train station. The room was clean and not too small compared to what you can get for the same type of hotel in Tokyo. I recommend this hotel if you want to experience Niigata.
