Vietnam’s second largest airport serves the capital city of Hanoi and is the main entry point for all of Northern Vietnam. It sits around 35kms from the city centre in the Phu Minh Commune. There are two terminals at Noi Bai International Airport, with plenty of services for travellers, including the VATC SleepPod; there is one in Terminal 1 and another in Terminal 2.Don’t Miss
The new international terminal at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) that opened at the end of 2014 has a maximum capacity of 19 million passengers and handles flights arriving from all over the world. There is also a domestic terminal that can handle up to nine million passengers per year.
Terminal 1 is the airport’s domestic terminal, with the busiest destination being Ho Chi Minh City, serviced by 270 flights per week. The busiest international destination is Seoul, though that is followed closely by Bangkok. Other popular international routes include Siem Reap, Singapore, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is also connected to destinations farther afield like Paris, Moscow and Frankfurt.
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) takes up an area of around 650 acres, making it smaller than the airport in Ho Chi Minh City, but still a substantial airport. Free Wi-fi is available throughout the entire airport and there are also a few places to charge phones and laptops. There are ATMs, locker rooms and currency exchange booths in both terminal buildings, while two VIP lounges can be found in Terminal 2. Those travelling with kids can spend time at the playground in Terminal 2.Restaurants and Bars
There are several eating options in both terminals of the Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), including international fast food chains like Burger King and Popeye’s. There are also sit down restaurants that serve both Western and Vietnamese cuisine. VIP passengers can enjoy pastries, fruit and hot dishes in the first and business class lounges.Shopping
There are duty-free shops in the arrivals and departures hall in Terminal 2 where alcohol, cigarettes, cosmetics and leather goods from known international brands like Chanel, Coach, Gucci and LeSportsac can be purchased. There are also souvenir shops in both terminals where passengers can buy high-quality local handicrafts, textiles and packaged food.
