"Oberstdorf is a beautiful hiking paradise with plenty of Hotels. Hence there is no need to stay in the sub-par Fuggerhof where you are put into a basement room while the unfriendly front desk staff tries to up-sell you into an above ground room - as if that were a special feature. Just to be clear - there was no mention of below ground rooms during booking and the basement room wasn't a walkout basement but did have a small window at the top of the wall, eye-level with the grass roots of the ill...

"We chose to stay, having done so about 6 years ago, and as before this was a wonderful hotel in every way. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms are large with comfy beds (we had a Mountain View room), and the breakfast is fantastic. We ate in the restaurant on one evening, which was really nice too. We used the hot tub and sauna every day, but being brits we aren’t so sure about the “nakedness” of this facility! Not for us…. "Wonderful hotel in the small village of Oberstdorf. Very clean and walkable to local restaurants and bars. Hotels.com says this hotel has a bar, but it has been closed since COVID so no “bar.” That was a disappointment. You can get beer and wine from the restaurant, which is an outstanding restaurant. Breakfast is also great."
"Not very quiet...could hear guests in other rooms and in the halls. Toilet down the hall. No privacy with shower in corner of room. Cleaning service did not knock, but just tried to open the door 45 minutes before check-out. "

"This was a wonderful stay for our family. It was very clean and well kept. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very nicely done out but the room had an open shower, with a window in the room. Not ideal with 2 teenagers! We used the wellness area while we were there and that was gorgeous. It has 2 steam rooms and a sauna, and a very luxurious place quiet rooms. It rained while we were there so we appreciated the down time. The parking was underground and had to book it in advance. The hotel is very centrally located , with a supermarket and bakery opposite, very close to the bus stop that takes you to Neuschwanstein Castle, and minutes to the town centre."
